The first time when Sarah overcomes her fear from the past just so happens when a rider frightens her so much that she threatens him with a pistol. Lord Nicholas Dalton, Earl of Ravensdene is a man who knows danger. He is a spy in commission from Wellington.
Nick came to Sussex to find a traitor and Sarah's family is among the suspects. So he doesn't underestimate this strange situation. However, when he looks in Sarah's eyes he doesn't think about traitors anymore. Nick has found something that is more interesting for him - he found love.
Sarah never wants to marry because she had partly witness the forcible death of her sister when
she was fourteen. Nick is sure with patience and understanding Sarah will forget her fears and it
looks like he is successful with that. Maybe it will be possible for him to find the traitor also with
that way.
