Historical

Again, I have to say that medievial romances are not my cup of tea. That should not mean I didn't liked this story at all but at the end I couldn't concentrate on the story anymore.

Rolf, Lord of Dragonwyck, also called "Le Draca" (the dragon) is a famous warrier in the year 1214. Lord Thursten, this brother-in-law has his little son Justin as a hostage. Rolf has wanted his son back for years now but because his wife gave birth to the child at Lord Thurstens castle the intriguing Lord became the guardian of the baby. Always when Rolf asked the king to get his son back the king never stood on his side. England is a restless kingdom at this time and with Justin in Lord Thurstons hands the king has a guarantee that Rolf will always fight on his side.

Once again Rolf tries to get Justin back but he is only able to see his son for a few minutes. So, he meets Annice d'Arcy the cousin of Lord Thurstens wife. Annice is surprised at how gentle and considerate the famous warrior is with his son. She is sure he is a gentlemen in his heart.

A few days later Rolf tries to set free his son with force. But this failed and he can only take Lady Annice as his hostage. Soon Rolf has to recognize that the woman isn't shy. She contradicts to his orders every time. When the king hears about the "kidnapping" he arranges the marriage between both. Annice has no other chance than to marry Rolf. But she will not be an obedient wife.

With time they start to trust each other. But also now the king will not give Rolf his son back. Then Annice does something real careless. Will Rolf be able to save her from harm?

Like I said, an interesting story, but with to much long-winded descriptions. Medievial fans can enjoy a good book.
