Emmaline Hatter is rich, beautiful, and wily. She lives in New York City in a beautiful house. Money is the only thing that is important to her. She grew up in very poor conditions. She did start a new life, but over the years she lost her emotions. Now, she is a cold and selfish woman.

One evening she gives a charity party for Dr. Larence Digby, a Professor. He needs money for a expedition. The evening ends up being a fiasco. Nobody is interested in "Cibola" the town which Dr. Digby is looking for. At the end of the evening, Emma gives him a check for over $10000.

A short time later Emma lose all her money in the big stock market crash from 1893. She no longer has any money and no future. Only one cheering prospect is in the darkness of her future - she remembers that she gave Dr. Digby a check. Emma is sure he didn't need all the money for his expedition. So she visits him a day before he is to start for New Mexico - but there is no chance for him to help her, the money is gone.

Emma made a deal with Larence when she gave him the check. If he found the legendary town with the gold she would get half. Now though, she wants to come with Larence on the expedition. They start in a big adventure. In New Mexico Emma doesn't want Indians to accompany them on the expedition. That is why they are alone on their trip to the desert.

Two characters which can't be more different. Emma the career woman and Larence the naive scientist. An unusual love story. Find out by yourself whether or not Larence keeps his title as the "last male virgin."

When Lightning Strikes

Rated 2.5

When I bought the book I was excited. Good time travel stories are rare. I thought maybe this book would be good. But, after reading it, I must say it was only a book which you will read and then forget.

Alaina Constanza is a romance author. She is not a fine or proper person. In her youth she had problems with drugs, alcohol and a rape. The only important thing in her life is her daughter Kelly.

In a stormy night she drinks to much alcohol and takes tablets because she never can sleep. She wants to work on her new book when lightning strikes. Lainie wakes up in a dusty town - Fortune Flats, the town in her newest book. Now she is in her own novel and has met one of the heros - Killian, a bank

Everything is not like it should be. First, Lainie thinks she is dreaming, then she finds out that things are happening that she hasn't written. Also, Killian is not the person she thinks she knows.

They have to find out why Lainie is now in the year 1896 and what her task is.

The beginning of the book was really good. I loved the idea of a story where a romance author wakes up in her own story. Unfortunately, after a few scenes the characters start to argue and they don't stop till the last very last scene's of the book. It was tiring to read how they learn to overcome their past. Thus, the reason for the 2.5.
