MARY BALOGH
Regency
Stephanie Gray was robbed on her trip to Hamsphire. But who will
believe this story - a governess who became a heir was robbed and
is now dressed like a actress. It looks like nobody will help
her except Alistair Munro, Duke of Bridgewater. He stops his coach
and asks her if he can take her with him to the next village.
Stephanie is so happy to meet such a nice and ready to help man but
also he doesn't believe she is real. He thinks this is a wonderful
joke and maybe he will ask her to be his mistress because Stephanie is
a distraction on his boring trip.
He decides to take her to the estate of her deceased relative. At
the arrival he must recognize that Stephanies story wasn't a good
joke and to restore her good reputation he has to marry her because
he has traveld together with her for three days without a chaperone.
One stipulation for Stephanies heritage is a marriage, so she
accepts his proposal.
Within one month she learns in London from Alistairs mother how to
behave as duchess. However, she doesn't like her new life because
she must follow such a varity of rules. So her affection for Alistair
changes. Stephanie thinks she has to show gratitude.
Is there a future for their marriage when it starts under such terrible
circumstances? Does Alistair feel love for her?
An enjoyable story which you shouldn't miss.
