Tabitha Lennox is an heiress with some unusual talents. She considers her "magic" to be more of a curse than a blessing - unlike her parents (who share some of these gifts). When her parents are presumed dead, Tabitha unearths a letter from her mom and a mysterious amulet. She examines the amulet and soon finds herself and her new kitten catapulted seven centuries into the past.

Meet Sir Colin of Ravenshaw, a knight returning from the Crusades to find his castle in ruins, and his sworn enemy ready to overrun the land where generations of Colin's family have ruled. Colin doesn't know what to do with this woman with the odd clothes and manners.

As Tabitha and Colin embark on their wild quest to regain Colin's lands, they fall in love. There are definite pitfalls along the way due to Tabitha's 21st century outlook and her magical talents.

For those of you who have read Teresa Medeiros' books before, you're in for a real treat! This book is a follow-up to "Breath of Magic", which contained Tabitha's parents; but can be read alone. I was hooked by the first chapter in which a young Tabitha bemoans the fact that she cannot have a "normal" life - without dancing cookies or elves. There are many hysterical scenes and also some very poignant ones. I highly recommend this WONDERFUL book.
