...timing mimics great grand dad's pocket watch. Sure it's nice to look at, hold, but it just doesn't keep good time anymore.

more words

I am notorious with my timing. Timing in conversations from my arrival into them from the execution of word pauses and deliberate replies. In business I am the rock, the soft non-threatening manipulator. On one level I am quite proud of that ability, yet on another it leaves me feeling untrustworthy, a cad, a liar. It's just business I remind myself, it's my job that's what I do. It leaves me feeling like an old well, empty.

"So what do you think?" they ask, as per the norm looking for my insight of a client. Pause. Will they retain us? What are they really looking for? Yeah, those are the basic inquires but there's always more.

Timing

Timing lets us see into the desires and sometimes hidden motivations of the speaker. For the most part the average person isn't well versed in hiding their body language, the warmth, depth or lack of eye contact.

Deal makers

Corporate "deal makers" tend to be the most challenging client to crack, we're playing the same game but they don't always see me as their equally equipped player.

Player

"Player" I hate that connotation it makes feel uneasy; it always makes me question human nature and learned expectations. In business I always win the mental warfare; it leaves me cold.

Mirroring

Next time you feel you are being sold, watch to see if a stranger mimics your body movements. If they realize your observation of this, you're face to face with a player.

Some of us have been involved with a person of this sort.

Involved

You always know it when it's over, and yes, it's over don't question it.

Once I cross the line from business to romance it all goes to pot.

There my timing mimics great grand dad's pocket watch. Sure it's nice to look at, hold, but it just doesn't keep good time anymore.
