Rosie's Ramblings
December 4, 2001
Hello Out There,
I joined the millions of other people shopping the day after Thanksgiving. I didn’t go to the nearby mall. Instead I made a circuit through some area antique stores. I was supposedly Christmas shopping. I did find one thing for my husband, but the rest was for me! It was an interesting day. I was driving through tiny Grand Rivers, Kentucky and spotted a sign that said “Rocky Hollow Quilts & Collectibles”. The shop is full of fabric bolts, patterns, fat quarters etc. Just inside the door I noticed a display case with a couple of needle books. On closer inspection, I noticed that one of them was a Fashion Quality that I didn’t have. To make a long story short, the nice lady ended up selling it to me, even though it wasn’t really for sale. You just can’t beat the feeling you get when a stranger does you a favor.
There are two other Fashion Quality books -- this one is larger than the others. In fact it is so huge that it doesn’t fit in the two-pocket protector sheets that I use for storage. Plus…it is beautiful! It has a slight split along the fold, but I think that it is marked Japan.
Last December I made a Christmas page. I hoped to have more to add to it each year. This year the only thing I have that even comes close to fitting in, is Snowman. Although it doesn’t mention Christmas, it reminds me of Christmas. The back and front are the same. It is also made in Japan and has some unrelated packets inside.
Next I have a couple of beautiful German-made needle books. American and Fireside. They both contain Imperial packets, though I haven’t included a picture. You have to see the back of American. Pretty, right?
All in all, it has been another good needle collecting year. Don’t hesitate to write with questions or comments.
Merry Christmas!
Rosie
