Rosie's Ramblings

January 1, 2002

Hello Out There,

It’s been a hectic holiday. My letter this month will be brief. I have three weeks worth of stuff to do before I go back to work on Wednesday (1/2/02). I was stunned to receive an email this month from a needle book collector in Scotland. What fun! It does seem to be a global hobby. I love it when this website serves to unite collectors.

Three of my needle books to premiere this month were made in Occupied Japan. Two of them -- Richbarry Brand and Home Companion -- have nearly the same covers. Amazingly I had not noticed that until today. Back and front are the same on both books. Here is a picture of the envelope that Home Companion came in. I have seen these envelopes described as “glassine”. I have no idea whether or not that is the correct term. It looks kind of like wax paper to me. The third OJ book is called Tulip Brand. It has the prettiest little tulip packet.

The last new entry is Fairplay. It was imported from Germany and has a matching packet. It is so pretty.

Ebay sure has been dead during the month of December. Hopefully offerings will pick up after New Year’s Day. I hope to hear from even more needle book collectors in 2002. Please don’t hesitate to write me at rosierider@yahoo.com.

Happy New Year!

Rosie
