Rosie's Ramblings
July 1, 2000
Hello Out There,
Thanks to Ron McCoy’s newsletter, a record 543 people visited Rosie’s last month. I loved watching the counter grow and getting all the extra e-mail. I certainly hope that my new visitors find their way back again. Anyone not receiving Ron’s wonderful newsletter should send a blank e-mail to antique-collect-subscribe@topica.com.
I have made some changes to my Zeppelin page. I have added a second version of the “Airmail” needle book (complete with a gondola). Notice that the backs of the books are slightly different. Although I did not scan the insides, they are different too. It wasn’t cut off…one type was simply made without a gondola. Click to view Airmail I , Airmail II, and the wrapper they came in. Both examples were made in Japan and neither have matching packets. I have also added the lovely Air Fleet. It has such nice packets inside, that I included a close-up of one in the scan.
I have added some new pictures to my Horseshoe page. Click to view Jockey Club and Bonita. Blue Ribbon was made in Japan and Bonita in Germany.
My last new entry for the month is the “Home Pride”. It features the steamship “Washington” and a goofy picture of George Washington. He has a strange smile on his face that reminds me of the coin? commercial running on TV right now (also starring G.W.) This needle book was made in Czechoslovakia. Click here to view it.
I was planning to give Rosie’s a new look this summer. I think I’ve changed my mind. I would appreciate a second opinion. Please write and tell me what you think. You can always write me at rosierider@yahoo.com.
In a week or so I’m leaving my husband and dogs behind (just temporarily) and heading to South Carolina to visit a couple of friends I haven’t seen in 25 years. Since I don’t have a laptop, E-bay will just have to do without me for a while. See you next month. Hopefully I’ll find a few treasures along the way to show you.
Rosie
