Rosie's Ramblings

October 2, 2000

Hello Out There,

I am running behind -- again. I am just now getting around to adding my Olympics-like needle book called “The Favorite”. The cover shows three USA runners giving it their “all”. It was made in Germany. I had intentions of looking up Olympic records to see if there were any particularly significant accomplishments that may have influenced the illustration on this needle book. That remains on my “to-do” list. I am teaching six different math classes this year. I find that I have little initiative or creativity left by the time I get home. Maybe there is an Olympics expert out there who can enlighten me. I have plenty of energy left to share information, just not enough to find it.

The second new entry for the month is called “Mending Hour”. It is one of my pre-eBay books so it is especially dear to me. I hope you have the time to view “The Winner” and “Fine Quality” too. “Fine Quality”, which portrays people watching an old black and white TV set, is particularly nostalgic for me. My family did not have a color TV until after I graduated from high school. I love the way that needle books bring back memories. The new books can be found on my A-L and M-Z pages.

I have noticed that there are a few new folks bidding on needle books these days, but most names are familiar. I see some names so often that I can’t help wondering about the people behind them. These are people that share my passion, yet I can’t talk to them. One of the reasons that I created these pages was to find a way to meet fellow collectors. I envisioned lots of trading. That hasn’t happened often enough to suit me. I just so happen to have a duplicate of the “Fine Quality” needle book (like the one featured this month). If you would like to trade another needle book for it, let me know. I don’t have the biggest or the best collection in the world, nor am I a needle book expert. But…I do have a desire to meet other collectors who share my interests. I believe we can learn from each other. You can always write me at rosierider@yahoo.com.

Happy hunting,

Rosie
