Rosie's Ramblings

october 5, 2001

Hello Out There,

Until the horrible events of September 11, I don’t think I realized just how much I value freedom. I feel proud and lucky to be a citizen of the United States. I don’t look at our liberties in the same way that I did just a month ago. I’ve learned a lot about heroes and the horrendous plight of the women of Afghanistan. My world got smaller and my heart got bigger. I have changed…everything has changed.

My additions this month celebrate freedom with different views of our Statue of Liberty. Someone got a little scissor-happy with this version of Gotham Flyer, but I decided to include it anyway, along with a close-up of one of its packets. The patriotic Broadway Lights is marked Registered Germany (what does that mean, anyway?) and has nice little matching Broadway packets. Marvel is another Registered Germany book. I love its old-fashioned look and adore the Brownies(?) on the back.

The red, white, and blue Liberty is bursting with Americanism – the Capitol, the White House, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, the Signing of the Declaration of Independence, and finally the proclamation “God Bless America” are depicted on the reverse.

Before I go I want to apologize for the horrible pop-up ads that Geocities has placed on my pages. I wish I could have my own little domain, but since this website doesn't bring in any money, I can't justify the expense. It does go away if you click on the "X".

With hope, I pray for peace.

Rosie
