Rosie's Ramblings
September 7, 2002
Hello Out There,
I always think of Labor Day as being the end of summer. I guess this dates back to my childhood. Way back then, school didn’t start until after the holiday weekend. These days I have several weeks of work under my belt before September begins. Summer isn’t over here, at least not weather-wise. I guess that’s why summer scenes caught my eye as I was picking out needle books for this update.
The first new entry is untitled. It screams summer with its sailboat, lake and camping scene. I’m calling it Sail, for lack of a better name. Regatta, with another nice sailing theme is one of my many favorites. Both are German made with foil-stuck needles. The last new book for the month is called Champion. It has a swimmer with strange looking facial features typical of needle books made in Occupied Japan. It’s like the artist painted an American, without having ever seen one before. The reverse has a Track and Field event.
I don’t know if it’s me, or eBay. Not many needle books have caught my fancy lately. It seems to me that selection has been down since late Spring. I KNOW that there are still many out there that I hope to eventually add to my collection. Where are they now? Oh well, as I’ve said before, I really don’t want a complete collection -- yet. I enjoy the hunt as much as the acquisition.
I want to offer up a big thank you to all who wrote last month. I so much enjoy hearing from my visitors. You can write me anytime at rosierider@yahoo.com.
Until next time,
Rosie
