Darkness
At night, I lay in the darkness
Wishing for the light.
Confusion comes upon me.
All I want is to take flight.
So many problems
Too many concerns
Come to me when the sun is gone.
My heart races like a motor.
My mind churns like a mill.
Frustration takes hold of me.
Say things will be okay.
Don't know if they will.
They say things seem worse...
at night.
Better to wait for dawn.
In the darkness, you lose your sight.
Many problems, in the light
Are gone.
Still...
I know when the darkness comes
So do my nightmares and fears
All my worries, realities become
Like a torch, to myself they sear.
In the dark, a voice deep inside me
Says in the night are friendly foes.
Guiding forces to help me see
My path in dawn's light
I should go.
Until I heed that voice in the dark,
I will anxiously wait for sleep to come.
To be awakened by morning's lark.
To never know
What I could become.
