thursday afternoon
i was waiting for my last bus and my fingers were cold and my face was
glittery and the sun was there, and a car suddenly pulled up and stopped right in front of
me. i'd like to say that it was a red car, but i asked jessica and she thought green and now
i honestly don't know.
that's one thing about me - i am incapable of remembering the colour of people's cars. i
remember their shape and the insides, but the outside colour.. not the foggiest. i can't even
tell you what colours jesse's or gene's cars are (gene's old car was red - i tend to remember red) - i think somekind of blue gray green? but i digress.
the driver leaned over and opened the passenger door, and looked at me questioningly. i began
to look around, thinking he was picking somebody else at the bus stop up but nobody moved.
this is where the thought "maybe it's a looney who doesn't realise that no sane person offer
strangers' rides, and a person who would accept it wouldn't be sane either." popped up.
he seemed as stumped as i did, though. and then i heard a small "...alanis?" which only puzzled
me more. all i could think was that it must have been somebody from the alanis concert i was
at, only.. i didn't speak to anybody outside of gene and my other friends there so it didn't
make any sense.
i was just about to back away from the car and this strange guy when he went "it's andrew?"
DOH!! jessica's andrew! i got into the car and started
to babble.
to the story belongs the fact that i have (obviously) never met andrew before. i've talked to him
briefly a few times online, but not recently. it turned out that he had recognized me off of pictures from my homepage.
and there you have it. i guess maybe i SHOULD worry about stalkers now that it seems it is possible for people to recognize me off of this page, eh? nah. :)
the ride was quite fun, albeit a wee bit awkward, which was certainly understandable as it was a very random unexpected thing. he drove me home and we talked a bit, and i got got growl at him that he better let jessica out of his sight at least a little when she comes to visit him so that i can see her too.
all and all, fun, and man - what a surprise. and i don't think anybody's ever called me alanis before. (my net.name at the talker we frequent, he couldn't remember my real name ;)
and i later heard from jessica that he seemed to remember i had glitter on my face.
