All About Richard

Quick Information

Ego is the controlling influence behind most Web pages, and this page is no different. So, in this section you'll find out a lot about me - almost enough to call me a friend.

Sydney Australia is where I've called home all my life (for those who know Sydney, I have lived in Roseville, Manly, Queenscliff, Brookvale, Manly Vale, North Ryde and now in Redfern).

I work at IBM Global Services currently working as a Transition Integration Manager. I've had a long background in project management (I started doing project management around 1986, starting out with application development, through LAN/WAN implementation management, onto transition management, and implementing project management infrastructure such as methodologies, reporting, education etc).

At IBM I've held a number of management roles, including Site Operations Manager, Manager Project Services, and Client Manager, but my forte is project management.

I've recently moved into an apartment in Redfern in a complex called Moore Park Gardens.

My community activities range from being a Justice of the Peace (NSW), a member of the Justices' Association of NSW, and was a member of Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Ltd (have now volunteered with New Mardi Gras), to having done volunteer work for Bobby Goldsmith Foundation and AIDS Council of NSW (ACON). When I lived at North Ryde I was a member of Helix Social Group (Sydney's North Shore gay group), organising their annual car rallies, working on their Fair Day stall, and assisting with their Christmas shows. I haven't developed outlets for my social conscience in Redfern yet but plan to in the near future.

Personally, I tend to be fairly black and white, which means I sometimes don't see the other person's point of view. Having spent most of my adult life in positions of power (to some extent), I appear to 'tell' people what to do rather than 'recommend' (this has been a problem in my relationships, as my significant other halves think I don't value their judgement - and yes I'm working on this aspect of my life). I focus on events rather than people (probably explains why I love some songs and movies, but can't tell you who sang them or starred in them). As hard as I work, I play just as hard. I love going out to nightclubs and parties, and will party right through from evening to the following evening (thank heavens for day club). To recharge, I go into my own little world - I'll read a novel in a day or go for a long drive or just lie in the sun in the backyard for hours, shutting out everything else, like not answering the phone, being short to people who talk to me etc.

I started seeing Andre in June - the relationship is developing very well. I'll shortly put some info (and pictures) of Andre here.

Previously I had a 3 year relationship with David. This was a great period of my life and I'm so glad I shared it with such a loveable guy as David. It is unfortunate that we were unable to keep it together - we both had different needs, wants etc which couldn't be met by the other. So now we have our memories and no doubt we'll be best of friends once we get past the emotional phase.

My Philosophy

One may do anything, as long as one doesn't hurt, or unnecessarily inconvenience any other living thing.
