***CHRISTMAS PAGEANT AT CLUB 141
What would be the perfect Christmas gift for
any drag queen? The answer -- a title, of
course! And contestants will have the
opportunity to win that title on December 17
at Club 141 as the Royal Sovereign Imperial
Court of All Kentucky presents 'The Miss Mary
Christmas Pageant'. Unlike traditional
pageants, contestants will compete in two
unique categories: Creative Christmas
Costume and Holiday Talent.
Entertainment that evening will feature, from
Louisville, the fabulous Ashley Kruiz, Club
141's own Maya Monroe, Empress XV Natalie
Gaye, and the reigning Empress XVI Chanda
Lier. Also making special appearances will
be Imperial Crown Princess XVI Eden Towers
and Duchess XVI Ginger Grant.
A celebrity panel of judges will decide who
will receive the sparkling new tiara and the
title 'Miss Mary Christmas'. The doors will
open at 8:00 PM and the pageant, show, and
dancing will begin at 9:00 PM. The cover
charge is $3.00 with the net proceeds to
benefit Aids Volunteers (AVOL). Mark your
calendars now for what is sure to be an
entertaining evening at Club 141.

***"ON THE ROAD AGAIN"
Emperor 16 Elvin Harkins Hits the Circuit!
Whew! The past couple of months have been a blur!
September found me, and about 20 other
representatives of The Royal Sovereign
Imperial Court of All Kentucky in the Queen
City, Cincinnati. From the "Out-of-Town" Show
at The Dock to the Victory Brunch at the Regal
Hotel, it was a fun-filled weekend with plenty
of excitement. I knew the weekend would hold
the potential for blackmail when Empress 6
Twyla Knight literally flipped her wig on the
way to the CBT Show at Shooters. Truth be
known, it was a pair of shoddy railroad tracks
that caused the spectacle. While at Shooters,
Donna Dumae literally dragged Twyla & myself
onto the floor to compete for the coveted
title of "Emperor & Empress of CBT". Twyla had
the good sense to bail out early. After
swigging some interesting cocktails, I wound
up becoming Duke of CBT. And, yes, I had to
kiss Chevon Davis of Buffalo. Birdie later
told me that Chevon was remarking favorably
about my kissing. Congratulations to Empress 6
Christina Blake & Emperor 6 Ray Besse on a
very successful reign. Likewise, a tip of the
hat to the new Monarchs, Empress 7 Oxana
Da'Bull & Emperor 7 Jeff Stemmer. Empress
Chanda Lier received the Empress to Empress
Award from Christina, while I received the
Empress to Emperor Award. Our Court was
greatly honored to be named "Sister City" to
Cincinnati!
October found myself, Empress 16 Chanda Lier,
Emperor 15 Paul Johnson, Empress 15 Natalie
Gaye and Co-Founder of the Court Greg Butler
back in Cincinnati for their Investitures at
the Dock. Natalie & I were both honored to be
asked to emcee part of the evening. The
evening was extra special for me, as Tina
Marie Wells flew in from Denver to do a
command performance for Oxana & Jeff.
Later in the month, Empress 6 Twyla Knight and
myself flew to the Lonestar State. The trip to
the Dallas Coronation proved to be as exciting
as the weekend itself. Our flight was diverted
to Houston and then Austin because of stormy
weather. Donna Dumae and company escorted us
around town. My suggestion of going to an all-
you-can-eat place to eat was voted down,
though. Tina Camaro & Diamond John flew in
from Albuquerque. Friday night we all boarded
a bus for the Bar Tour. Empress Eartha Quake &
Emperor Wade Burwell really outdid themselves!
The evening was capped off by myself, Twyla
and Ft. Worth's Tiffany Renee & company piling
in to the back of a pick-up truck headed back
to the hotel. Naturally Tina Camaro was snug
as a bug in the front seat. Wigs began to blow
in the breeze, as the truck motored down the
freeway. They soon came off. Some spectators
got quite an eyeful when we pulled off of the
freeway. Twyla & Tiffany, now wigless,
contemplated putting on a show for the car
behind us. The Coronation Ball ushered in the
new Monarchs, Empress Donna Dumae & Emperor
Maverick. The celebration seemed so much more
complete with the impromptu Wot-a-burgers
served to our table. Before the weekend came
to a close, Donna Dumae had tossed me some
grits at the Victory Brunch. Oh, and be sure
and ask Twyla Knight how she enjoyed her
toast!
In November, Emperor Paul Johnson & myself
traveled back to Cincinnati to help them raise
money for AIDS Volunteers of Northern
Kentucky. The Toyland Show featured over 20
performers and raised over $1200.00. Empress
Oxana Da'Bull emceed the evening. The previous
weekend, Empress Christina Blake and the
reigning Imperial Princess Royale Booshie
Rayburn traveled to Lexington for our Pride
Center Gala. It touches my heart to see all
the good things happening with our two Courts!
That's it for now. I hope to see all of you
all on the circuit in '98. Until then, Happy
Holidays and be safe on New Year's Eve!
Elvin Harkins,
Emperor 16 of All Kentucky,
The Garnet & Gold Thunderbolt Emperor
