Crescent ~~ Related to imbolic and associated with the maiden aspect of the Goddess, the waxing moon grows stronger in this phase as She becomes visible in the night sky. 1st Quarter ~~ Related to spring equinox this is the 1/2 way point of the waxing moon cycle. Any extended spells begun at the new moon could be reinforced at this time. Gibbous ~~ Related to Beltaine, the moon grows stronger and closer to the peak of Her strength. Still within the waxing moon cycle, drawing spells are still workable at this time. Full ~~ Related to summer solstice and associated with the Mother aspect of the Goddess, the moon is at the peak of Her power. This is the day of the Wiccan Esbat. The fullness of lunar influence is available to you on this night, time to finish any drawing spells begun at the new moon - sorta wrap things up. Dessiminating ~~ Related to lammmas, now the moon enters Her warning phase this is when to do banishings, the pushing away from you things you don't want in your life. You may also draw things unto you. 3rd Quarter~~ Related to fall equinox, the moon is 1/2 way through Her warning cycle. This is the time for introspection more than magikal workings, a time to reach within yourself! Balsamic ~~ Related to samhain and associated with the crone, the wise woman. As is the end of the waxing moon cycle, now is the time to wrap up any extended banishings started right after the full moon. |
