BANFF AND JASPER NATIONAL PARKS

Summer

As hard as it is to believe, summer is even prettier than winter. As vivid and pristine as the winter is, the summer is all that plus variety. There are flowers, greenery, aqua blue lakes, cascading streams, roaring rivers and waterfalls - a whole new world in the same place.

This is a work in progress - I hope that over the next few months, I will be able to add more photos and more information about these incredible places.

Jasper and Banff are in the Canadian Rockies. They are in Alberta but hug the British Columbia border. Here are some shots of what they have to offer.

The left shot is Moraine Lake, near Lake Louise in Banff. The two right photos are from Maligne Lake (pronounced "Ma Lean"), outside of the town of Jasper in Jasper National Park.

Water and Mountains

On the left, Athabasca Falls on the powerful Athabasca River. The middle photo is of Skoki Lodge. Not your ordinary lodge. We stayed here in the Winter and Summer of 2000. You can read more about it in the Winter Section. On the right, is a dramatic mountain and cloud scene near Moraine Lake.

Beautiful Lakes

Perhaps the most stunning part of Jasper and Banff is the Lakes. There is beautiful lake after beautiful lake. These are Moraine Lake, Ptarmigan Lake and Lake Louise.
