Thou Art the One In All
-Translated from a discourse given by Sant Shri Asaramji Bapu |

When I (Sant Shri Asaramji Bapu) was in solitude for seven years, then I thought
that I've meditated a lot on: "The presence of one God in all". Now let me experience that practically also. For that
reason I would go to places where I could find people who could create problems for me.
There was a small Ashram in Disa (a place in Gujrat, where Bapuji used to stay), but I used to go out of Ashram in the night, and go to places near the banks of the river where dangerous people lived. One day two drunkards saw me & said: "Oh Son of Saint! Come here!" When I went near them, they placed a dharia (big knife) on my neck. The dharia can cut the branch of a tree even if it is moved only a little. The knives are nothing as compared to it. He picked up such a dharia and placed it on my neck. "Baba! Should I pull it?" This man was not in his senses. Even if he would have pulled a little, half of my neck would have gone. I told him: "Pull it." But inside my heart I thought what can he pull? Will he pull this (neck)? How can he pull me (Real Self)? I knew that the same beloved God is residing in this man as well. This was a practical test for what I had been meditating upon: "Thou Art the One Residing in All". His hands trembled. The dharia fell from his hand and he fell down on my feet. The course of my karma was still remaining & therefore nothing happened. I'm still alive... Sometimes I used to goto the locality of cobblers. I used to tell myself, "You have smelled the fragrance of lots of flowers, now smell this fragrance too!" I used to cook food by myself but one day I thought, "Lets see, what happens when one asks for alms (Bheeksha)?" I set out at about 2:00 PM in the afternoon to ask for alms when people would have finished with lunch & washing utensils. At that time a Sindhi lady was cooking food. She had just put the first piece of bread on the pan when I reached her place. I said: "Narayan Hari" The lady started abusing me: "You are so healthy & red like a tomato & still you are begging for food. I had just put the first piece of bread on the pan & you dropped in saying Narayan Hari. Go away..." I said to my heart (Manas): "Look son! What is happening? Babaji... Babaji... This happens a lot. Now see this too son!." Then I set out again on the second day. People came to know that I am the disciple of Swami Leela Shahji Maharaj & do my spiritual practices near their village. Now each of them had prepared rich food like kheer, malpua or halwa & were waiting for me, thinking when I shall reach their home. From which house should I take food & from which I should not... I used to feed the beggars on the way back and I also used to eat. I saw this phase of life also. Later on when all of these tendencies started appearing useless to me, then I stopped practising them too.
