This view is from the highest point of the Northern Tongariro Circuit (the rim of Red Crater). Central Crater is at your feet, Blue Lake shines at the far side and a glimpse of Lake Taupo is on the horizon. The Tongariro Crossing track (the "best one-day trip in New Zealand") can just be seen passing over the crater floor on the far right. It then climbs up to Blue Lake, follows its shores and drops down over the obvious saddle to the left.
