Who we are!

Benton County Search and Rescue (BCSAR) is an official department of the Office of Emergency Services. We are located in Bentonville in the northwestern most corner of Arkansas.

We were organized in 1988 to fulfill a need for wilderness response in the rugged hills of northwest Arkansas. We are trained and equipped to respond to anything from a lost child to a downed aircraft.

We are staffed by an average of 25 Professional volunteers ranging from paramedics and cops to machinists and moms.

In 1994 Benton County SAR received a national award from NASAR for achievement in SEARCH and RESCUE.

Our primary response disciplines are: Wilderness Search and Rescue; High Angle Rope Rescue; Cave Search and Rescue; Swiftwater Rescue; and Related Medical Functions. We have nationally certified instructors in each area.

Mission Statement:
To save lives through the implementation of professionally managed SAR operations.

Training Philosophy:SAR training must place individuals in higher risk, challenging activities that push each individual's comfort zone and physical abilities.
