Team "Hawaii 5-OOPS" will be contesting the May 27-28 24hr "Round the Clock" mountain bike relay race held in Spokane, WA. Despite the fact that there will be no SingleSpeed division, we will be putting power to the One Gear and extracting the maximum amount of fun possible from our ride.
The team is made up of riders from all over eastern Washington. Come out and visit us at the race. Look for the Tiki torches and the Hawaiian shirts!
Old-Offbeat-Potbellied-Singlespeeders RACE RESULTS We mixed it up with the geared riders and gave a pretty good account of ourselves! We were the only riders there on singlespeeds and weren't too far out of third place. Even though we didn't win anything at the awards ceremony we had a bunch of fun. The best campsite award was given to the WOW team next to us although the Bicycle Butler bar set-up came in a close second. The Dirt Divas were great and added a lot of color to the whole weekend. The last Dirt Diva rider started and finished her lap in knee-high, hi-heeled leather boots complete with a flaming pink feather boa. We finished fourth in our age class with 25 laps total of the 11.2 mile course for a total of about 280 miles! We all had a blast and are already thinking about doing it again next year. We're scheming how to do it better and make it to the podium the next time! A huge debt of gratitude to my teammates who helped me make this such a great race. Mondo thankx also to our volunteer Stephanie Dixon.
