Mounts Iglit-Baco National Park

The lands surrounding these mountains were set aside in 1970 to protect the habitat of the tamaraw (Bubalus mindorensis), a dwarf buffalo found only in the Philippines. The park includes 75,445 ha in both the Oriental and Occidental provinces of Mindoro island. Mt. Baco has an elevation of 2,487 m.

This area is also home to the Mangyan ethnic group. Because of disagreements with the government on how the protected area should be managed, the Mangyans have decided not to participate in the NIPAS program.  The status of this area as a national park is, therefore, uncertain.

This area can be approached from the east from Bongabong and Roxas or San Jose and Sablayan to the west.
