Taal Volcano - National Park
Taal Volcano is about 70 km south of Manila and can be reached
in 2-3 hours by bus and jeepney. The jumpoff to the volcanic island is
the town of Talisay which is located on the north shore of Taal Lake near
the "T" of Tanauan on this map. Tanauan is, in fact, the transfer point
from buses going to Batangas to jeepneys traveling to Talisay. Talisay
may also be reached via Tagaytay. From Talisay, boats can be hired to take
trekkers to the island and guides are available. Guides are probably
only needed if you are hiking to the old crater and crater lake. The trek
is suitable for day and overnight excursions. Bring plenty of water.
