Turtle Islands Heritage Protected Area
This spattering of islets is closer to the Malaysian State
of Sabah than any large island of the Philippines. These are likely breeding
or resting areas for endangered turtles such as the Hawksbill and Green
Sea Turtle. The area is part of the CPPAP protected
areas program.
The town of Sandakan, shown on the map, is in Malaysia.
The closest Philippine municipality is Jolo, the Sulu provincial capital,
300 km to the east.
