In your absence, a meeting was held recently between the remaining members of national park pals (all three of us) and we agreed upon a few things irt this prestigious organization. This communication is submitted as much for your approval as it is for your information. That being said, here's the scoop: a. First, you have unanimously been selected as president of NPP due to your drive, depth of knowledge and commanding leadership ability. It is our hope that you intend to accept this position. b. Next, the vice president/XO has been named as one Mrs. Ellen Freaner because, quite simply, she wanted to be and because I was staying at her house during the time of this meeting... who was I to argue? I think you will agree that she can fulfill the job of XO quite well. c. As for me, well I have been selected as NPP secretary because I'm fairly low on the food chain; not to mention that I'm so insecure that I desperately seek any official title for self validation. It's because of this position that I am initiating this first, of many, NPP-mail. d. Lastly, my lovely wife has been selected to act in the capacity of NPP public relations coordinator and membership recruiting chairman... I had to find some title(s) for her as she is pissed that I have more NPP stamps than she does. 2. Now that the NPP chain of command seems to be set, the following is a list of recommended duties for each position: a. PRESIDENT: - Establish rules/guidelines of how business is to be conducted (in writing). - Establish rules/guidelines for obtaining the various stamps in the NPP "blue book," (i.e., what is/are valid stamps, point values, bonuses, etc...)[also in writing]. - Establishing an NPP meeting schedule and forum. - Establishing an initiation process for new members. b. VICE PRESIDENT: - Acts as president in his/her absence. - Administrative manager. - Does all the crap that the president chooses not to. c. SECRETARY: - Development of an NPP newsletter. - Publishing minutes of each meeting. - Creating the NPP theme song. - Does all the crap that the president and vice choose not to. d. PUBLIC RELATIONS COORDINATOR/RECRUITING CHAIRMAN: - Responsible for creating a respectful image of the NPP organization. - Fields all contacts from media personnel. - Solicits new NPP recruits. - Does whatever she wants because she is so strong willed. These lists are, by no means, all inclusive and are certainly open for your tailoring. 3. Final topic... uniforms. With your vast experience in the military and boy scouts, I'm quite sure that you see the utility for organizational uniforms. Not only do they act in a pr capacity, for our purposes it will be easier to identify fellow NPPers while we are abroad getting our "blue books" stamped. it is my opinion that a blazer or windbreaker would be ideal. 4. Thank you for your attention to this first NPP-mail, and we are eagerly awaiting your inputs, Mr. President. r/ E. A. Hansen NPP secretary (select)
