Two full days of FREE outdoor tips and fun will be offered September 23 & 24 during the annual National Hunting & Fishing Days near Yorkville, IL.
Activities ranging from fishing and shooting to canoe paddling and many events for children taking place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. that Saturday and Sunday at Silver Springs State Park.
The event is sponsored by the Northern Illinois Hunting and Fishing Committee along with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
Visitors can learn how to train a dog, paddle a canoe and shoot a bow, shotgun or BB gun. Hands-on activities will include outdoor seminars for women, an antler contest, kids' casting competition, children's fishing pond, historical re-enactors encampment, tomahawk throwing and black powder shooting demonstrations.
Also on hand will be exhibits, food, rod and reel giveaways, Illinois Bass Federation Bass Boat raffle, merchandise and the Hawg Trough. Admission is FREE, although donations are welcome and sincerely appreciated (all volunteer/not-for-profit).

Directions~ Silver Springs State Park can be reached by going WEST of Illinois 47 (at Yorkville) on either River Road or Fox Road, or by going SOUTH of Illinois 34 (at Plano) on Fox River Road.
