The FAA has a special cannon with which they use to test the windshields of planes by shooting a dead chicken at the windshield to simulate a bird flying into it. They figure if the windshield can't handle this, they know they have a problem. The British rail service decided this was a good idea and wanted to borrow a cannon to test the windshields of their trains. The FAA sent a cannon to Great Britain with instructions on its use. The rail officials followed the instructions and shot a chicken at the windshield of a train. The chicken went through the windshield, through a passenger's seat and embedded itself into the console of the engineer's station! The rail officials were shocked and weren't sure whether they followed the instructions correctly so they asked the FAA to evaluate the British rail test. After reviewing the test the FAA just had one recommendation to make to the British rail officials;
"Next time use a thawed chicken."
