Janet McGuinn
My name is Janet McGuinn and I am thirty-three years old. I live in Mesa,
Arizona with my dog, Stan, and a cat who has a name but I just call him The
Cat. Stan calls him Pompous Mr. NoFun. Until I become a "public frog"
following the publication of my first novel, I am earning my living testing
software for a big, non-creative company that refines oil and owns thousands
of convenience stores.
I like to write mostly poetry and short stories, but am also working on a
screenplay adaptation of a friend's novel as well as a novel of my own and a
nursery rhyme for my best friend's baby, Phin. A lot of my poetry is
humor-oriented, but I can occasionally wring out some angst-ridden gems,
especially when I have had my daily dose of absinthe. Just kidding, I don't
drink absinthe every day. Only on days where my muse is not inspiring me,
but instead is probably out on the porch vomiting after reading some of my
earlier work.
Some of my favorite things are: technology, R.E.M., limeades from Sonic,
Kevin Spacey, black and white photography (mine and others'), Cheetos, Patsy
Cline, art, babies and looking at clouds from airplanes.
If you've read this far, then thank you. I look forward to meeting other
nestlings and sharing our work.
