Poet and Artist Statement and Bio
I love many things in this world...a butterfly in flight, silvers stars
that shine in a midnight sky, art, poetry, and music, a rainbows flowers,
cupid with his bow and arrow
astronomy. In art I am inspired by the great masters, DaVinci and
Michelangelo. In poetry I love W. B. Yeats, E.A. Poe and W.M. Shakespeare.
In Astronomy, I love Galileo, and other astronomers and the history of
astronomy. My art is inspired by many things. From the first time I ever
saw art as a child, I fell in love with it. Now, as a grown woman I still
adore art very much.
I love when a great work of art is viewed with poetry and music. It is a
beautiful effect to include the best of all three worlds. What would the
world be like without music, art, and poetry. And the other creative things
of the world, like theater and movies /
I use black ink, and colored chalk and paint- I incorporate as many colors
as I can. the texture is important too!
My opinion is "The more color the better!" But on the other hand, I also
adore black and white art !
I live in Dugger, Indiana. I have 8 years at ISU..."the college of Larry
Bird." I have studied many great things at ISU. I learned allot from my
professors, I have taken many classes (creaitve writing, poetry,
astronomy, art, and History!)
I am a Medical technologist I hold the ASCP(AMERICAN SOCIETY OF
CLINICAL PATHOLOGISTS)( Board of Registry registrant) CHICAGO IL.
AND NCA(NATIONAL CERTIFICATION AGENCY FOR MEDICAL LABORATORY
PERSONNEL. INC. WASHINGTON D.C.)
I have to mention two people that have been a creative inspiration to me.
Special Thanks to Dr. S. Connelly (ISU) for he read one of my poems and
some of my essays and short stories and said "Peggy, perhaps the reason you
understand poetry so well is because You are a writer and poet yourself
This statement has given me much inspiration. He has worked as an English
Prof at ISU for over 30 years.
I'd also like to thank my cousin Travis S. Meeks for the thrill of a life
time. I was so proud of him when he was in Rolling Stone Magazine this past
January. He is lead singer and writer for the rock band "Days of the New"
and was on David Letterman in Nov. To see my family name of Meeks in
Rolling Stone was an awesome experience. and on the next page Bob Dylan a
legend in music !!!!!!
I hope you enjoy my art and poetry as much as I enjoyed creating it.
Nothing feels as good as creating, it makes you as high as a star in the
sky!
