Summary: Exactly what the title suggests. Set during Season 4 somewhere in the middle, I guess.
Distribution: Please want my story!! And if you do I LUV YOU!! But tell me so I can brag to all my friends =0 )
Pairings: B/S B/O B/D minor B/X B/A B/R
Authors note: This is just a fun fic for me. Something with all my favorite 'ships. This will be the start story to a series hopefully. Each story about what would happen if she ended up with Oz, Spike or Doyle, 'cause those are the only ones I write for =0P BTW, the whole Veruka thing didn't happen so Oz hasn't left, but Willow is friends with Tara, and Riley doesn't know Buffy's a Slayer either. I can't really write for Tara 'cause I've only seen 2 episodes with her in it so if I get her character wrong cut me some slack. I also know jack all about magic and ritual and stuff.
Dedication: To Michelle (Babyze) who's a bloody champion and translated the spell for me.

"Why are you so cheery this morning?" Willow asked Buffy lightheartedly.

"Riley's taking me out for a picnic today. A whole blissful day of non-slayage, and normalcy. Plus, he said he would bring the food like last time. It's so cool not having to make any effort at all, '.m great at making zero effort what-so-ever," Buffy told her grinning goofily, "So whatchyou upto today?."

"Oh, I found this really cool looking spell at Giles's. I thought I might go over to Tara's and try it out."

"Would this spell happen to be out of one of the books Giles tries so hard to keep hidden from you?"

"Sure is! Well, if he went to such lengths to try and hide them, there's gotta be something cool in them," Willow grinned mischievously, "And I worked out all of Giles's hidey places ages ago."

Buffy smiled back at her best friend before saying her good-byes and heading out of the dorms.

"Are you sure we s-should be doing this Willow? I mean they look like kinda powerful spells, and we haven't been doing this kind of thing together for very long."

"It's totally okay, Tara," Willow reassured her new Wicca friend, "I'm sure they can't be that bad. And we aren't very powerful yet. I'm just starting out, and you haven't really developed your power that much, so I'm sure whatever we conjure won't do much damage, if any."

"O-okay, if you think it'll be alright," Tara quickly smiled at Willow before starting the chants.

They weren't exactly sure what the spell would do as the spell was in Spanish, but Willow had figure from her limited understanding of the language, it was a kind of protection spell, something to do with love. So Willow had figured it would be cool to do the spell on Buffy, seeing as she needed the most protection.

El amante sera concedido a usted
El amante le protegera
En amante usted encontrara el uno
Para un dma y una noche sus amantes seran intensificados

Both Wiccas chanted slowly while holding their hands palms facing upwards, only the tips of their fingers touching. At the start of the spell a picture of Buffy laid on top of their hands but was now floating and spinning. In a blink of an eye, the picture disintegrated with a small amount off blue smoke rising to the ceiling.

Both girls simultaneously opened their eyes and stared at each other.

"Uh, was that supposed to happen?"

Buffy was listening without really listening to Riley prattle on about something or rather, while propped up on her elbows basking in the sunlight. She was just happy to be finally going out with a normal, well at least semi-normal guy while having a normal-as-a-slayer-could-get life, it didn't really matter if he WAS kinda boring.

"..and I have these tickets to this basketball game in LA, so I was thinking," Buffy turned away from Riley and looked up at the sky, not noticing the blue light the flashed in Riley's eyes, "..would you marry me?"

Snapping her head back to him, "Huh? Run that by me again?"

"I can't live without you, Buffy. These past few weeks. . . they've been like heaven, I-I don.t think I can live another day without you. I love you. Please? Marry me?"

Buffy slowly sat up, blink a few times, and shook her head her a few times too.

"Alright, I think the stress of college life is getting to me. I thought you just declared your love for me, then asked me to marry you."

"I did."

"Huh?"

"So? What do you say? Will you make me the happiest man alive?"

Buffy blinked a few more times, before it finally filtered to her brain that she had just been asked to be his wife. *Holy shit! How the hell am I gonna get out of this?*

"Uh, Riley, I don't know how to say this. NO! Huh? I guess I did know how to say it," Buffy told him, still a little confused.

"What?? But-but Buffy? I want to spend the rest of my life with you!"

"Ok, now you're scaring me. I-I'm just gonna.go," Buffy said while inching further away, bit by bit, before standing up and making a run for it.

"Wait!! BUFFY!!" Riley cried out sounding like someone had just ripped out his heart.

~That night~

Buffy started her patrol full of thoughts of what had happened that afternoon. She was still in shock. Riley seemed so normal and SANE. *I can't believe I was just proposed to! Riley's nice and all, but really, me being a wife?? And all domestic??* Buffy was horrified at the notion.

*I wonder what it would be like? The whole white picket fence thing? Oh, yeah, and we could have dinner parties with our demon friends. Yeah I can just see it! ."Oh dear, I'd like you to meet one of my closest friends, this is Fred. He's a Polgar Demon. Oh, remember the time you tried to kill me Fred?" Ahh, fun times,*

Buffy snorted very unladylike at the concept before another disturbing thought came to mind.

*If I married Riley I would be Buffy Anne FINN?? Ewww much?!*

Buffy was so engrossed in her thoughts she didn.t notice two very familiar figures approaching her.

"Buffy." Angel's soft voice brought her out of her troubling thoughts.

"Angel?" Buffy gasped before getting back her composure, "What-what are you doing here?? Is there any specific 'world in peril' trouble? Or is this just a social visit?"

"I'm not sure, but Doyle got a vision and.." Angel turned away from the Slayer to glance at Doyle as a blue flash of light lit up his eyes, "..I thought, I should," the vampire paused to sniff the air with a funny look on his face, "What's that perfume you're wearing Buffy? It's musky like flowers and sex," he said huskily before fully vamping out.

"Angel? What going on?" Buffy asked a little scared.

"Buffy," Angel said stepping closer to the Slayer, "I remember that night don't you? The night we - you smelled exactly the same," he whispered intimately into her ear, pushing her up against a near by tree, his voice dripping with sensuality.

"Eeep!" Buffy squeaked, panicked before Doyle came to her rescue.

"Angel, man! You gotto get outta here, you know you can't get all friendly with the pelvis again. Remember last time? With the grrr," Doyle told him, urgently grabbing his arm.

Angel quickly backed away coming to his senses, "You-you're right. I have to get as far away from here, from Buffy, as quickly as possible." He turned quickly but turned his head, giving Buffy one more longing look and swiftly strode away, not waiting for Doyle.

"Well, that was kinda scary, wonder what brought that on?" Doyle asked confused at his friend's behavior, turning to watch Angel's quickly retreating back as his eyes flashed a bright blue.

"I'm not sure. Why are you guys in Sunnydale anyway? Angel started to say but then he was all, well, you saw," Buffy asked, a bit bewildered.

"Don' ya be worring your pretty lil' head about that darlin'," Doyle said as he turned to face her again, "It looks like we're all alone now. How bout we take advantage of it?" he raised an eyebrow suggestively, giving her a sexy grin.

"Exqueeze me?" Buffy asked confused, then realizing what she had said, muttered, "I've been hangin' out with Xand too long."

"Don't mind if I do luv," Doyle replied, not noticing her muttering. Buffy just gave him a shocked look, shivering a little as his grin widened.

"So I was wondering," he asked in a low voice, "How do you feel about half-demons with Irish accents?"

"Well, yeah, the accent's pretty cool and all, but don't you think you're a little old for me?"

"C'mon, have you forgotten 'bout your ex?" "Point taken." Buffy acknowledged thoughtfully, but quickly shook her head at the utter madness, "No Doyle. Look, I dunno what's goin' on, but this isn't you. I hardly even know you!" Buffy said feeling highly frustrated with the situation.

"Well, we can fix that, can't we?" Doyle said as he took another step closer to Buffy as she frowned.

*What's going on with all these guys?!*

Changing tactics, since being reasonable didn't seem to be making any impact, she decided to get Doyle and the other two to see Giles as quickly as possible. He would know what was up. *Something must be making them act this way*

"Alright, Doyle," Buffy took another step closer diminishing the space between them, "But I have to finish off my patrol. How 'bout," Buffy started making swirly patterns on Doyle's chest as she said in a hushed tone, "You go to my place and wait for me," she said, giving him her famous half smile.

Elated, Doyle practically skipped away, but quickly turned before he got too far, "Uh, where do you live again?"

After giving Doyle the directions to her mothers place, Buffy went in search of Angel and Riley.

*Thank God that Mom went to LA for the weekend!*

Buffy couldn't even start to wonder what was making the guys act that way. Totally confused and a little nervous, she made her way back to UC Sunnydale campus.

"AHHH!!" Buffy screamed as a hand settled on her shoulder.

"Stealthy," the owner of the hand said softly behind her.

Spinning quickly, stake raised, Buffy faced her attacker, "Oz!! God you scared me!"

"Really? I thought I had tickled you," Oz said with a wry grin.

Sighing in relief, Buffy grinned back at him. He seemed normal. Hmmmmm.

Buffy was silent for a minute, studying the wolf's features before asking tentatively, "Oz, you're not in love with me are you? I mean, you've been here, in front of me, for what? Two minutes? And you don't feel all mushy about me do you?"

"Umm, not to insult you in any way Buff, but aren't you being a little conceited there?" Oz asked, eyebrow raised.

Buffy was so relieved to have someone NOT get all googgly eyed at her that night she ignored Oz's comment and felt a flood of relief take over, "Oh, God, Oz, solid ground, level headedness, good ole Oz. I can't believe it, all the guys in this town have gone crazy! Or maybe it was just those three?" Buffy wondered out loud as she turned around to loop her arm through Oz's. When they passed under a low hanging a tree, Buffy failed to notice the blue light flash through Oz's eyes as it did with the three before him.

Feeling a rush of tenderness toward the Slayer on his arm, Oz wrapped his arm protectively around her, asking tensely, "What other three?"

Buffy turned her head a little to look at Oz, puzzled at their closeness, "Oh, just Doyle, Riley and Angel. They were acting all weird on me."

"Angel?? What's he doin' back here?" Oz asked jealousy, though his jealous voice sounded a lot like his normal voice.

"Umm, I dunno. Something about Doyle getting a vision. Must not be a very big threat though; he got completely sidetracked."

"How so?"

"Oh. He was just trying to replay scenes from our turbulent relationship, I guess," Buffy told him with a far-off look.

Oz stopped abruptly, and turned Buffy to face him, grabbing her around the shoulders. "He didn't hurt you, did he?"

"What? OZ?? No, he didn't hurt me, but if you squeeze my arm any harder, you'll be hurting me."

Instantly letting go of her arms at the sound of her distress, Oz became confused at his actions, "Oh God, I'm sorry Buffy, I-I'm not sure what came over me."

"Oz, what going on with you? I've never really heard more than two words out of you at a time, let alone emotions, what happening with you- andohmyGOD!" Buffy cried out as realization dawned on her, "Damn it, Oz! You too?!"

"Me too? What? Buffy, I-I don't know what's going on. It's just, I feel.."

"Stop right there, Daniel Osbourne! No declaring your love for me, or anything REMOTLEY resembling that. You're Oz!! My rock! My steady ground! You can't be like the others!" Buffy was getting damn frustrated with this 'thing.' "Urrggh!"

"You're not going to do mime now, are you? 'Cause that would completely change my feelings for you," Oz said in a soft voice.

Buffy turned and took a long look at him, head tipped to the side. "No, I wouldn't put you through that again," Buffy said with a mischievous smile, "What am I gonna do with all of you, Oz?"

"Buffy I can't help the way I feel."

"Don't Oz. I don't think I can take another proposal or anything tonight. Look, I ...you probably won't believe this, but this isn't you. Just do me a favor? Get Giles and go to my place, as in my mom's, and wait for me. Doyle's already over there, please?"

"Who proposed to you?" Oz's jealously flared for the second time that night.

"Urrghh!"

Once she had dealt with Oz, Buffy continued on her path towards Riley's Frat house. *This is taking longer than I thought, if one more guy comes along, I'll scream!*

Just as the thought crossed Buffy's mind, a very male figure strode towards her.

"AAAAHHHH!!! I can't win!" She screamed at the top of her lungs.

"'Ello pet."

"Oh, it's just Spike. OK, I take back that scream. What do you want Spike? I have things to do, people to see."

"Such as the pounce? What's he doin' here this time, luv? Come to lose that fragile soul of his again?" Spike asked snidely.

"You saw him? Where'd he go?" Buffy could always find Riley. Angel was another matter. That guy could blend into the shadows better than Batman and Robin combined.

"What do get out of it if I tell you?"

"You don't get severely beaten is what you get," The Slayer answered sadistically.

Spike raised his scarred eyebrow, "Really? Bring it on slayer; I always enjoy a chance to kick your arse."

"Talk Spike. The mood I'm in, all you get to kick is yourself right before I stake you."

"Ohh, the Slayer suddenly grew a pair did she? I don't-" Spike's last line was cut short by a very strong punch to the jaw.

"Bloody hell, Slayer!" Spike cried out as Buffy started raining punches and kicks on him.

He took one last kick to the middle section before he couldn't take it any longer *Damn the pain, the chit can't get away with beatin' William the Bloody up.*

He threw one wild punch out at the Slayer, catching her on side of her head. As she went down from the blow, Spike did as well from the pain in his head, landing on top of her.

Both panting, Spike looked deeply into Buffy's hazel eyes as a flash of blue brightened his own. Buffy mouth opened slightly at the sight, finally understanding how she had missed the change in all the other men before Spike. Before Buffy could get up, Spike quickly lowered his head and engaged her in a fiery kiss.

All thoughts were lost as the kiss deepened, and the their embrace tightened.

After what seemed like an eternity, they pulled apart as Buffy needed air and stared at each other for a long while.

The Slayer was the first to regain her composure and tried to cover up her reaction, "Well, that was. . .interesting," Buffy stated indifferently, as she turned to leave.

"Wait Buffy. I. . . I love you."

"Yeah, you and the rest of the town. Get in line buddy."

"God, why was I so harsh?" Buffy asked out loud as she strode towards Lowell House. The kiss brought back memories of the short time Buffy and Spike had been engaged, memories that weren't all together unpleasant.

*I can't think about that now. I just have to find Riley and then Angel, and get whatever spell, cause it has to be a spell, reversed. Spike will just have to fend for himself.*

"Angel!" Buffy exclaimed out loud slapping her forehead, "Damn it! I forgot to get Spike to tell me where he saw Angel!"

"I'm right here, Buffy."

"AHHH!" Buffy shrieked, hand over heart turned to see the owner of the voice, "God, Angel! You gotta stop with the stealthy thing; you're gonna give me a heart attack one of these days!"

Ignoring Buffy's outburst, Angel asked in a quiet but demanding voice, "What's going on between you and Spike?"

Shocked, Buffy asked faintly, "Sp-Spike?"

"Yes Sp-Spike, Buffy!! What are you two playing at?!" Angel burst out, the first time he had ever actually yelled at Buffy.

Buffy was silent for a few seconds, blinking slowly, surprised that Angel would ever speak to her in that way.

Not giving her time to answer though, Angel continued, "You were supposed to find someone normal, not criminally insane!" Taking a threatening step closer to Buffy, "I can't believe what you've done Buffy! You know what? I don't think I should have told you to be with anyone else at all! If I can't have you, no one can!" Angel roared completely losing his control for the first time in a millennia.

Turning away from Buffy, he didn't see the terrified tears Buffy had been silently shedding, having never seen this side of her first, and what she thought, one true love.

Once he had finished, Buffy took one large gulp, than implored softly "A-angel?"

Turning back to face her, guilt over-took Angel as he saw his only love cry because of him.

"I-I'm so sorry Buff-" Angel started to apologize immediately but was cut off by a small but powerful fist connecting with his cheekbone.

Even after hearing a noticeable *crack*, Buffy wiped away the tears, and said in a low unwavering voice, "You DO NOT tell me who and who I can't be with Angel."

Shocked to say the least, Angel silently stared at the Slayer, hand over his broken cheekbone.

"Now, you're gonna go over to my mother's right now, before I beat you to a pulp. You really don't want to be around me right now," she told him dangerously.

"Why your mothe-"

"Just go Angel; no questions. I know this isn't you; it's some spell or something, but that doesn't stop me from kicking your ass back to LA."

Looking like a kicked puppy, Angel turned and did as Buffy asked, but was thinking to himself *Shit, I've never seen her this pissed before. Christ, it's making me horny*

With an angry stride, Buffy once again returned on her journey towards Lowell House.

"Damn stupid vampire, thinks he can boss me around. I'm a friggen Slayer damn it! Stupid guys and their stupid testosterone," Buffy muttered under her breath.

"Eat, hunt, kill, need protect woman," she then imitated beating her chest for emphasis, "Neanderthal!" Buffy spat-out, utterly disgusted with Angel's behavior.

Finally reaching Riley's Frat house, she then took a long breath, "Finally! Now if I don't get any more guys falling in love with me, I'll be just fine and dandy.." she continued to mutter, receiving strange looks as she made her way up to Riley's room.

Not bothering to knock, Buffy found a dejected Riley slumped in an oversized lounge-chair.

"Buffy! You came back!" Riley exclaimed surprised, getting up to try and hug her.

Waving off the hug, "Yeah, yeah, get your jacket. Let's get goin'," she told him, not bothering to explain.

"But where? Have you decided to accept? Are you going to be my wife? Are we going to elope?" Riley asked, getting excited.

Having forgotten about that factor, Buffy stilled for a second before shrugging, "Why not? Sure, Riley, whatever," she said indifferently, walking out of the room.

Confused at her actions and her lack of enthusiasm, but not really caring, Riley quickly ran to catch up with her.

Finally reaching her house, Buffy took one long breath to calm herself before she went through the door.

All the important men of her life were inside; she had to get herself together before she faced them all at once.

"What are we doing here?" Riley asked, breaking Buffy's quiet moment.

Sighing, she grabbed Riley's arm and pulled him inside.

Opening the front door and looking into the lounge room, Buffy could see her three suitors, as well Willow, Tara, Xander and Anya. It seemed the whole gang was there. She almost felt they would all turn around suddenly and shout 'SURPRISE!' but instead Buffy found she had walked in on the middle of a heated argument.

"She told me to wait here for her. This was to be a special night!"

"Then why the hell are we all here?"

Everyone turned around to find Buffy, with Riley close behind her, staring at them all.

Turning back to the argument, the shouting started up once more.

"See I told you she would come for me! Now you can be leavin' now. All of you."

"She's not here for just you, moron, she told us to come as well."

"Who the hell's that with her?"

"I'm Riley, her fianci-"

"Her what? No, son, she's here to be with me."

"No, I love her more."

"She's mine."

"She was never yours; she'll always love me."

"We may have only met a couple of times, but we have more passion in our relationship than either of you have in your little fingers."

"You don't have a relationship."

Xander threw his arms up to get everyone's attention, "Okay. Okay! Stop! The Buffster's not with any of you guys," calling out over the commotion.

Walking up to Buffy, he put his arm around her as a blue light lit up his eyes, "She's with me."

A new fight broke out in the room at Xander's declaration.

"Oh crap," Buffy said softly to herself.

Storming towards the pair, Anya asked angrily, "Xander what are you doing?"

But not waiting for his answer, the ex-demon turned to Buffy and demanded crossly, "Get your sleazy hands off my boyfriend!"

"Happily, if he would get his hands off me."

"Look, Anya," Xander turned to his girlfriend, not taking his arm from around Buffy, "We had a good time, but what Buffy and I have. . . it's special. What we had, well, it'll never compare."

"Alright Casanova," Buffy said, taking Xander's arm off her shoulders, "This has got to stop."

"Indeed," Giles said from behind her.

"Giles! Thank God!" Buffy threw her arms around her former watcher but quickly let go, eying him suspiciously.

"You're not in love with me now, are you Giles? 'Cause that would be kinda ew.."

Giles raised his eyebrow before answering, "No, Buffy, I am not, but I'll explain everything when EVERYONE SETTLES DOWN!" Startling everyone into silence, Giles took charge of the situation, "Could each person please find a place to be seated? This is going to take quite a while, and we have much information to sift through before we can make any reasonable conclusions, but Willow has informed me of how much she is involved with the situation, and I think I now know."

"What?? Will?! This was all because of you?!" The Slayer shouted at her best friend, interrupting Giles.

Willow shrunk in her chair, trying to make herself as small as possible.

"Uh, kinda?" Willow screwed up her face in anxiety, "But I swear, Buffy, I didn't know it was gonna turn out this way! We were just looking through that book and found a spell." "I knew it!! I knew it had to be a spell! Damn it, Will! Do you remember what happened to me the last time you did one of your screwed up spells?"

"I wouldn't call that spell screwed up, it was just-"

"Oh, I think planning to get married to your mortal enemy can be classified as screwed up," Buffy shot out angrily as Willow shrunk even further into her chair.

Riley stood up suddenly, approached Buffy and asked confused, "Buffy, you told me you made that up. You-you said Spike wasn't real. I-I don't understand. And spells? I think I'm missing something."

"A few too many brain cells I think." A very distinctive voice came from the doorway, 'Ello pet," with a lopsided grin, Spike stared intently at Buffy as if there wasn't another soul in the room.

Turning her head and giving Spike a meaningful look, Buffy didn't notice everyone else in the room tense and look at Angel. Well, that is except Willow, who sighed in relief, glad she was now out of the harsh spotlight.

Getting up and walking predatorily towards Spike, Angel grabbed him by the neck and slammed him against the nearest wall. "What are you doing here?"

Spike turned his attention to his Sire and said flippantly, "To pick up my laundry," he then gave a dramatic leer; Angel wouldn't scare him into submission. This was his territory now.

"You are not to see her, do you hear me? Stay away from her."

"Um, hello? This 'her' is still in the room." Buffy said, waving her hand in front of Angel. "Get your hands off him, Angel."

"But, Buffy, I. . ."

"Get. Your. Hands. Off. Him."

Letting go of his childe's neck, he hissed in Spike's ear, "This isn't over."

"Ohh, I'm scared; the Poof's threatening me."

Turning and taking his seat again, Angel sat silently fuming. Smirking, Spike leaned against the door fame and lit up a cigarette. "So, what's a girl like you, doin' in a place like this?"

"Spike, put that thing out and sit down. I don't have the patience for this."

"But Slay. . ."

"No 'buts' Spike. Sit."

Grumbling, Spike sat on the arm of Buffy's armchair as there weren't any chairs left in the room.

"Uh, right," Giles said uncertainly, confused at Buffy's reaction to Spikes arrival, but continuing nevertheless, "Well, as long as we're all here, and there are no more interruptions, we'll get started."

"Sure, Giles, but Willow? We're gonna have a talk later," Willow shrunk into her chair a little lower as Buffy glared expressively in her direction.

"Indeed. Well, it seems I have most of the details from Willow and Oz, but Buffy, before I come to any conclusions I would like to hear what has been going on from your point of view."

Snorting, Buffy gladly nodded, finally someone sane to listen to her and actually help with this mess.

" . .So that's about it; I came here straight after I found Riley."

"Well, it seems to be as I suspected." Everyone waited for Giles as he absently took his glasses off and started to wipe them with a handkerchief, but he did not continue, too caught up in his own thoughts.

"Giles? Earth to Giles, you still with us?"

"Oh, y-yes. Of course, Xander. I-I was just thinking-"

"Well, are you done procrastinating yet? I'd like to know what the hell's going on," Buffy asked irritably.

"I-indeed, I apologize. I shall explain it all to you soon. I'll just have to take one more look at the spell Willow had cast and then I shall be sure."

Everyone in the room groaned as Willow got up to retrieve the book from her bag. Some also yawned, it was already one in the morning, and they had been there for 2 hours already.

Flipping through the ancient spell book and a small Spanish dictionary, Giles 'ummed' and 'ahhhed' for a while as people started to nod off, others paced in frustration, and a few even fought once more.

Suddenly, Giles slapped the heavy book shut, startling everyone out of their activities.

"Well then, I've translated the spell and have consequently found what it has done."

"It seems, Buffy, you have become the center of all the men-in-your-life's affections."

"Well, duh. We knew that 2 hours ago! What's actually happening to them, and when are they going to stop this game of Love Connection with me!"

"Ah, yes, well it appears they-they have all been affected because they all had feelings for you, Buffy, previous to this incident. Even if it was a minute attraction, once they were in close proximity to you, they, essentially, fell in love, or lust as it may. I was not affected because though I do have feelings for you, they are only fatherly feelings. And to answer your other question, I am hoping the spell should have run its course by morning."

"Wow," Buffy whispered, flopping back into her chair, stunned to say the least.

Thinking over what Giles had just said, Buffy asked slowly, "So-so, you all had feelings for me before this?"

"I'll love you Buffy, for ever and a day."

"Of course Buff, you know I've always had a thing for you."

"I still do, love you that is."

"I hated you with a passion, but I love you bout just as much Slayer."

"I've loved you since the first time I saw you."

"Ya that sounds bout right."

Five voices told Buffy, one by one, getting mixed reactions from the other occupants of the room.

Willow got up quickly, saying softly to herself, "Oh God, oh God," then ran out of the room. Tara ran after Willow to console her newfound friend.

Anya walked towards Xander slowly, lifted her hand, changed her mind for a second lowering it, then punched him with all her might, receiving a grunt as his head snapped to the side. Turning back to his what-seemed-to-be now ex-girlfriend, he gave her a blank look, clutching his nose.

She turned and returned to her seat silently.

Giles got up and left the room, knowing intuitively that there was to be a fight to start, and was not disappointed, when Spike and Angel both went to console Buffy.

Slapping Spike's outreached hand away from Buffy, Angel ordered him angrily, "Get your hands away from her! I told you before boy; she's mine!"

"She's not yours old man, you gave up that right when you left."

"Stop it! Stop it, both of you!" Buffy cried out, covering her hands over her ears and shutting her eyes tightly.

They each extended their arms to console her, touching her at the same time, both vampires turned to glare at each other, both not willing to give the other the pleasure of seeing them back off.

Buffy opened her eyes and stared at the wall, not daring to look at either, as everyone else in the room sat apprehensively, watching the tension build.

Breaking the consuming silence, Willow returned to the room, red eyed but consoled it seemed, as Tara walked in tentatively behind her.

Standing up straight, Angel addressed Spike in a dangerously low voice, "When this is over, believe me, we're gonna have a confrontation. If we still remember. . . this. . . in the morning," Angel ended uncertainly, still unsure of the spell and what it entailed.

"Yeah, whatever," Spike dismissed him with a wave of his hand, then under his breath muttered, "Poof." so only the people nearest him heard.

Buffy quickly gave him a tired grin, which he returned before he turned and left into the night.

Turning back to see Giles walking back into the room, giving her a look, Buffy asked, "What?"

Shaking his head, Giles turned back to address the group once more. "I think it would be best if everyone got some sleep. It's been a long night, and everyone's nerves are quite strained. Buffy, you run along upstairs to bed, I think you need sleep most. Willow will be able to get home alright, won't you?"

"Sure. I can walk with Tara." Willow said giving Oz a pointed look, which he turned away from quickly.

"Very well then. Buffy, will you be alright here by yourself?" Giles asked his charge, concerned.

"I'll stay with her!" four voices shouted out and started a new round or arguments.
