The bar was busy, more busy than usual. No one paid attention to the small woman who was slumped across her table, surrounded by three men. Anyone who did see her assumed that she was just drunk.
However, everyone noticed when he entered the bar, letting the doors swing behind him, coat billowing like a cape. There was something unearthly about him. Icy. As if he were not from the world of the living. His eyes were blue chips in his face, his defined cheekbones only making him less human.
He walked- no, stalked to the bar. He leaned over and questioned the bartender, who nodded and pointed to an empty table. The man swore, and asked the bartender another question. The bartender just shrugged. If anyone had been sitting at the bar, they would have seen the man's eyes flash yellow. Then, with a cat-like grace, he snapped the bartender's neck.
Ignoring the stares that followed him, and the waitress frantically calling 911, he walked out the back entrance. He smiled when he noticed the trail of blood that stained the ground. It was fresh, too. Head down, he followed the trail quickly. There was urgency in his step that was not usually present.
Soon he reached his destination. A huge warehouse towered in the moonlit lot just behind the bar. A scream reverberated inside of the building, breaking the silence of the night. It was cut off abruptly.
Moving more slowly, keeping to the shadows, he entered the building. Soon he found the source of the scream. The young woman was struggling against her captors. She had successfully knocked out one, and the other was bleeding. Then the third hit her over the head. She fell limply.
She never hit the ground. The man had emerged from the shadows, and caught her. He grinned toothily at the two men as his face changed to that of something not human.
Moments later the huge building went up in flames. Standing a safe distance away from it, the man- his mask resumed, watched with satisfaction. In his arms he cradled the limp body of the girl.
When she woke up, her reaction was not one of gratitude or relief. It was pure hatred, pure terror. She twisted to get free and beat his chest, kicking at him all the while. He calmly wrapped his arms around her more securely, trapping her flailing limbs successfully.
"Hush, luv. I'm not going to kill you." He whispered, pressing his face against hers cheek to cheek.
She bared her teeth and snapped at him. He pulled back, laughing. She stopped struggling, giving in.
He leant down and gave her a sound, chaste kiss. She did not react, but didn't pull away. Her eyes were closed, her face expressionless.
After making sure that she was not going to bolt, he let her down. She walked beside him, head down. A small cut on one cheek was the only visible souvenir of her kidnapping.
They silently climbed into his car. She settled back against the leather seats with a long sigh. He chuckled, and switched on the radio.
I was angry when I met you
I think I'm angry still
We can try and talk it over
if you say you'll help me out
Don't worry baby
No need to fight
Don't worry baby
We'll be alright
This is the noise that keeps me awake
My head explodes and my body aches
Push it, make the beats go harder
Push it, make the beats go harder
Sorry that I hurt you
Please don't ask me why
I want to see you happy
I want to see you shine
Don't worry baby
Don't be uptight
Don't worry baby
We'll stay up all night
This is the noise that keeps me awake
My head explodes and my body aches
Push it, make the beats go harder
Push it, make the beats go harder
Come on push it, you can do it
Come on prove it, nothing to it
Come on use it, lets get through it
Come on push it, you can do it
Don't worry baby
Don't be uptight
Don't worry baby
We'll stay up all night
This is the noise that keeps me awake
My head explodes and my body aches
Push it, make the beats go harder
Push it, make the beats go harder
Push it, make the beats go harder
Push it, make the beats go harder
Don't worry baby
We'll be alright
Don't worry baby
We'll be alright
Push it
Push it
Push it
She glanced sidelong at him, frowning. He kept his eyes on the road, a small grin playing over his face.
"Why?" She asked, speaking for the first time since she had come to.
He smiled. "I really don't know, slayer. I really don't know."
Staring out at the traffic, she didn't hazard a reply. Then, suddenly, she swung around and planted a kiss on his lips. He sat for a moment, stunned.
"Thank you." She said.
"I don't think one kiss will be enough…" He began, as they started moving again.
"Don't push your luck, bloodbreath…"
Push it
