15. Thwart the wizard in the Star Caverns (70 points, by Timber & Rebelheart)


Start off by getting to the caverns themselves.. they are located 31n, 9w,6n,3w.
You'll find it easy by looking at a sorcerer's map. Maps are light, and pay off in the long run.
Remember to bring a light source, preferably a fire gem or a glowing sphere unless you're a mage, cleric or necromancer (rogues should already know that nightvision is a last resort).
Once in the cavern, go n, nw, 3n? and west... until you see the central room of the cavern. There should be an Earthquaker there that is guarding the entrance down. You kill the Earthquaker (making sure to grab the trident from his corpse!!! Packrats are extremely abundant here, and will pick up anything you drop, including whole corpses, it can be a major pain in the butt, or you could always buy one in a shop =) ).
Then go down to the werewolf. Kill him dead. Again.... BE SURE TO GRAB THE WOLFBLADE OR STARBLADE from his corpse!!! (or buy a wolfblade/Starblade .... wolfblades can sometimes be found in the shops...)
Kill a rat and get his torch or buy one before you go in...go back west to where you came in. You should have passed an orc, or where he was... Going north from the entrance will end you in a room where there's an exit for ne... go ne, and look. there should be a shelf there, or you're in the wrong room... find it. At the shelf, type climb shelf. The upper level is arranged in a big star shape (hence the name - star caverns...) there are five elementals, located at each hub of the star. You have to kill them in a specific order. Effaw is the name of the big meanie. Earth Air Fire Forest Water. You must kill the elementals in that order.... (fire and forest it don't matter, forest first, fire first)
Before you kill them, you have to weaken them. You do that by:
   Earth--wield trident, thump trident--kill elemental. Go in the room he's guarding (se?) and search dirt. get gloves.. pick dandelion..
   Forest--give dandelion to elemental, kill elemental. Go s? to the guarded room, search oak, get helmet.
   Fire-- go to the water elemental, and wait... wield trident and thump trident... get ice shard he'll drop
   go ne se to fire... give ice to fire, kill elemental... ne, search ashes, get armour.
   Air--wield trident, spin trident, kill elemental, sw, search branch(s), get cloak. Water-- light torch, give torch to elemental, kill elemental.. nw, search water, get wading boots....... there... now go to the center room where the pentagon is.
Wear all the eq, and wield the star/wolfblade. Make two alias like this....
alias z trace pentagram on pentagon with star(wolf)blade ...
alias x think earth fire forest air water ..... This will magically transport you up to the room Effaw is in. Kill the bugger... but make sure you have lots (and I do mean lots, as in as many potions and food and drinks as you and your brother can carry..... he's one tough mother, and I would even say set your wimpy to like 50% or 60%... this will prevent you from being dead. You can wimpy down, and leave down. but.... make sure when he dies that you grab the shit from his corpse (you DON'T want to leave it up there, because all the eq dissapears to get u back there once you leave down, and you don't want to loose the star armour like that... when he gets to seriously wounded for you hit and runners.... stay in the room if you possibly can.) Once Effaw is wasted, you've solved the quest... no need to kill the multi-elemental... and that's it!!!
(You might want to get the gems for the starblade and/or star armour, which are guarded by five wolves in the lower level, which are guarded by earthquakers and golems) They're pretty easy to get anyhow. The only hard one is the red wolf... take the collar he had, light the chemicals in the stone basin, burn the collar.... wait... gem will appear. Arctic wolf, break icicle, and the rest i don remember, but they're easy... just look around a bit and try things.
