Two more sympathizers of separatist group in Ambon arrested
AMBON (Antara): A joint operation of the Ambon Isle police and the Lease isle police
in Maluku province on Sunday arrested two more sympathizers of separatist Republic
of South Maluku (RMS) following an illegal dance performance at the commemoration
of the 14th anniversary of the Family Day in the presence of President Suliso
Bambang Yudhoyono on June 29, 2007.
Chief of the Maluku provincial police's operational section Commissioner Jefrey
Danuarta said Sunday the police arrested a suspect in Aboru village, Haruku isle and
the other one who sewed RMS flag in Saparua, Maluku Tengah district.
The two suspects have been sent to the Maluku provincial police's Special
Detachment 88 to undergo investigation for possible acts against the unitary state of
Indonesia.
Meanwhile, one of 39 separatist suspects who have been arrested, Nus Malawauw,
had fled by plunging himself into the sea when the speedboat on the trip from Tulehu
village in Ambon isle to Aboru village was hit by a 2-3 meter high wave. (***)
