Court sentences man to 4 years for failed A&W restaurant
bombing
JAKARTA(AP): An Indonesian court convicted a man of trying to bomb an American
chain restaurant in the capital last year and sentenced him to four years in prison
Tuesday, a court judge said.
Muhammad Nuh attempted to detonate a small explosive at an A&W restaurant in a
mall in eastern Jakarta, after being inspired by the deadly Bali bombings that killed
more than 200 people, mostly foreign tourists.
The defendant, an electrical repairman, was seriously injured. He was the only person
hurt in the attack.
"He wanted to die and become famous," presiding Judge Farid Fauzi told the court.
"His actions cannot be forgiven even though he expressed regret." (***)
