The Desert tournament for 2001 came at the end of a long hard season for the Fianna, with the results of the various matches going very much Dubai's way. Nevertheless forty intrepid explorers did make their way out to 'Ballynoe'for the night's hooley, a night under the stars with the only the camels and a belly dancer for company!
Men's team
We did field a strong men's team, but alas one that had not kicked a ball in anger for nearly five weeks...the results were evident as Dubai beat us in the championship for the first time in a year...not nice to lose that unbeaten streak but the hard work had been done in March.
Women's team
The ladies didn't fare much better. This late in the season we struggled to find the bodies to travel north to Dubai, but those who did paid fine tribute to Marian and Kate in their last games in Fianna colours. Thanks for all the dedication and help girls.
