Episode 10: The Scent of War
(The Winner owned repair bay in the Lunar Base, Heavy Zero is sitting still unoperational awaiting final checks. Kert looks on with DoctorT and Quatre at his side.)
Kert: Quite an upgrade DoctorT.
(Now both arms have double beam gatlings with shields over them, the old missile launcher is gone in favor of a rack like missile launcher right above the gatlings on both shields, the ammo storage for these run up the arm, another twin buster rifle has been added, there are more missiles on the leg now, and the shields end in a sharp tip above the arm, which has had Heat shorter technology added into it.)
DoctorT: Yes, I’m quite impressed myself, it’s all ready after the final checks.
Quatre: Looks a bit like Heavy Arms.
Kert: Yes, Kert’s original suit was based heavily on the gundam Heavy Arms. The fact that Kert did the best with that gundam led us to build this suit. But now since his skills have increased past Heavy Zero’s capacity and the power he is going up against is probably far stronger than the original Heavy Zero we upgraded it. By the way Kert, what are you going to call it?
(Kert pauses for a moment, thinking.)
Kert: Well, I guess since Death Scythe X is an upgrade of the old Death Scythe that it would appropriate for this to be called Heavy Zero X.
Quatre: Makes sense to me.
Kert: Quatre?
Quatre: Yes.
Kert: There’s been one question nagging at the back of my head, why didn’t the five of you pilots just come and stop Plague in the first place?
Quatre: Well, our gundam were destroyed.
DoctorT: What?!
Quatre: After the incident with the old operation Meteor they were all sent into the sun.
DoctorT: What incident? I guess I spent so much time down in the lab on the project Savior I never heard about it.
Kert: Hmm, after all I’d done I had you five tagged as cowards for not doing anything, now I see you couldn’t do anything at all and it wasn’t by choice. By the way do you know where the Magunac Corp is?
Quatre: Yeah, why?
Kert: I need another favor from you.
(The construction site of the new space fortress, Barge Alpha, where the it has been completed and has been in orbit for about 5 days now.)
Captain: Well, is everything set?
Console guy: Yes sir, all systems set.
Console Guy 2: Sir, we’ve got three carriers on radar, they aren’t registered.
Captain: Send them a hail.
Console Guy: Roger…sir, they’re not responding.
Captain: Tell them to either identify themselves or leave this area or else we will open fire.
Console: they are still not responding!
Captain: Send them a warning shot with one of the laser turrets.
(On screen, a shot goes through space goes between the carriers, they start to release somethings.)
Console: They’re releasing what look to be mobile suits sir.
Captain: Shot them down then!
(Lasers start firing, but by now the mobile suits have gotten into formation ahead of the carrier, even though some hits are direct they are not phasing them one bit.
Captain: What the hell is going on?!
(Suddenly, two beam come from two of the many mobile suits and hits the fortress, the bridge is shaken by the impact.)
Captain: Damage report!
Console guy 2: Mobile suit bays 3 and 1 have been destroyed!
Captain: Deploy all Taurus suits, we’ll take them out face to face!
(In the mobile suit bays 2 and 4 the alarms are going off, pilots are getting into the many suits and taking off. Back to the bridge.)
Console: The Tauruses have made contact and are fighting the new mobile suits.
Soldier: sir, these aren’t any suits we’ve ever seen before, they look similar to the Virgo’s.
(Onscreen an image of one of the new suits, it’s carrying a small buster rifle and has a field surrounding it, it also has some machine gatlings on it’s arms.)
Soldier: We don’t know how we’re gonna AHHHH!!!! (Blank.)
Captain: Dammit, how many are lost.
Console: Sir the entire unit was obliterated!
(Suddenly, the view inside a cockpit shows on screen, the pilot is shrouded in shadows [give u one guess who it is.])
Plague: You can see for yourself that this battle is pointless, deactivate your weapons and surrender.
Captain: Never!
Plague: Then you shall be destroyed!
(The Virgo Zeta’s point their guns at the fortress.)
Console: Sir, judging by the damage each of those shots to the hangars I’d say those guns have about ¾ the power of the main weapon of the old 01. We’d be easily wiped out with one short barrage.
Captain.: Then…we…have no choice. Disarm our weapons.
Plague: I’m glad you could see it my way, load up the escape pods and get out of there, anyone who’s still there by the time we arrive will be killed on site.
(Console guy pushes a button.)
Captain: What the hell are you doing?!
(The main cannon starts charging up.)
Console: There’s still a chance sir!
(Suddenly, an ominous black shape appears in front of the main bridge.)
Captain: What the hell is that?!?!
Plague: You fools!
(The main cabin gets slashed and explodes, the black shape appears in front of the cannon.)
Plague: I hate to do this.
(The black shape comes into focus, it looks very similar to Death Scythe X, But there are a set of three bladed beam wings on the back, it pulls out both triple beam scythe’s and slashes at the cannon then disappears. The cannon explodes.)
Plague: Let that be a lesson to anyone who thinks they can defeat us.
(The escape pods start going out.)
Plague: And as punishment…
(The mobile suit fires off a buster shield into the cluster of escape pods which destroys them all in one blast.)
Plague:…no one shall survive this. Load into it now, I don’t care if there are still people getting into the escape pods destroy them all. The more innocent they are the more powerful our message.
(the carriers start heading to the escape pod bays followed by the VZs, the carriers drop off some men who start slaughtering the people. The soldiers are later walking through the halls, dragging men who tried to hide out of their quarters and stab them in the head or shoot them in the head. The new DSX deactivates it’s beam wings and walks into one of the mobile suit bays, when the suit gets close to a railing, it opens up and lets plague out.)
Plague: This new suit is quite powerful. I’m surprised the scythe’s alone had the power to destroy the entire cannon.
(Trenchcoat walks up.)
Trenchcoat: Yes, but we will have to make repairs, they shouldn’t take too long though.
Plague: Good, I want to proceed as quickly as possible.
(Plague takes off his helmet, Tyler Maddison walks up.)
Tyler: Good work Plague, the crew is now more motivated than ever, you’re suit alone is a symbol to our cause.
Plague: Glad to hear it, once you’re done with the executions start work on the repairs immediately.
Tyler: Yes sir (Walks off.)
(Down on earth, Drake and David along with w few other men are in a cell.)
Drake: I hope they made it, I hope even more that whatever they are doing pays off.
David: I know I’ve accepted that kids cause, but right now I’m more worried about us then I am him.
Drake: That’s understandable.
(Suddenly the base is rocked with an explosion.)
Drake: What the hell was that?!
Guard(from outside cell.): What?! Mobile suits?!
David: You hear that!
Drake: I have a feeling we won’t be in here much longer.
(Up at the base, Magunac mobile suits are storming the base.)
Rasid: Once you get in close enough get out of your suits and go release the prisoners. We’ll cover the suits while you’re gone.
(A few "Right"s they continue to fight and gain ground.)
Rasid: Ok, move in!
(A few men get out of their Magunac suits with M-16’s and start mowing down the guards coming out. After they clear the entrance they rush in.)
M. soldier: Cell block A should be where they are keeping them.
(They come up to a door with ‘CELL A’ on it, they shoot the lock and run in, shooting all the guards as they do.)
Drake: Who the hell are you?!
M soldier: Members of the Magunac corp, we’re here to free you, just follow us and you’ll be fine.
David: Wait a minute. What about the Leo’s?
M. Soldier: What?!
Drake: They’re in Hangar 12, I hope they didn’t move them.
(After freeing Drake and his men, they go to the Hangar and start shooting the guards there.)
Drake: there they are, cover us!
(Drake and his men dash for their suits under the cover fire of the Magunac soldiers. Once they are in their suits the soldiers head towards the exit. Drake and Co. pilot they’re suits outta the hangar.)
Rasid: There they are, start securing the shuttles.
(The battle continues until they have secured enough shuttles and left.)
(At the lunar base. The final checks of HZX are complete.)
Kert: Not a moment too soon either, the news says a few shuttles carrying new Virgo type mobile suits took over the Barge II, they were led by a black suit.
DoctorT: That sounds like him alright.
(Quatre comes in.)
Quatre: Kert, I just got news from the Magunac corp that Drake and his men have been freed and they are on their way. I’m glad I’ll be able to see Rasid and the others again.
Kert: Good, with the battle ahead we’ll need the extr…
(Kert and the others are thrown off their feet from a huge explosion not too far away.
Quatre: What was that?
Console guy: Sir! The entire repair bay 3 has been destroyed.
Kert: Dammit, they’re here!
DoctorT: Now would be a good time for a field test Kert.
(Kert nods and runs up the stairs to the catwalk level with the cockpit of his mobile suit. DoctorT and Quatre head out the door.)
Quatre: Wait, where are we going?!
DoctorT: We’re getting out of here, they’re most likely to destroy the repair bays one after another systematically, and if my calculations are correct, Kert should be getting hit…
(Kert jumps in his new mobile suit and shuts the cockpit, presses a few buttons.)
DoctorT: Now…
(A large rumble, the repair bay around Kert was in goes up in flame.)
Tyler(Radio): Keep going, we need to make sure we get the damned thing.
Vz pilot: Roger. Wait a minute…
(Pause…….suddenly, a shower of bullets destroy the entire squad of VZ’s that were going after the hangars.)
Tyler: Dammit, deploy the mobile dolls. We’re going up against too much for normal pilots.
(VZ dolls start flying out of the carriers, more bullets from the flames but the dolls dodge them. A red mobile sit rises from the flames, HZX.)
Kert: So now let us see what we can do.
(The dolls start firing they’re buster rifles, HZX dodges all the shots then pulls out one of the twin busters out and fires, the VZ dolls are surrounded by the beam and destroyed, the shields couldn’t save them. Another wave from the carriers, before they start attacking HZX destroys one of them with the beam gatlings, there are four left. The VZ dolls get into typical formation and start converging on HZX, it gets hit but blocks the shot with it’s shield, after getting out of the barrage it pulls out the buster rifle again and fires, they dodge out of the way but it hits one of the carriers, Kert grins.)
Kert: Stupid mobile dolls.
(Suddenly, one ambushes HZX from behind, it knock HZX down and is about to fire when HZX jets up, pulls out a beam saber and slices it in half. HZX then lands and turns around, there are a whole bunch of VZs in a the usual firing squad line. HZX launches some missiles and does the trademark U turn shot and destroys a lot of them making a hole in the defense, HZX jets through the hole and slices another carrier in half, then turns to it’s left and picks off the last one with it’s shoulder cannons. HZx pulls out the buster rifle and destroys half the remaining dolls, it detaches the beam gatlings from the shields and revs up both shield sabers. It jets at them dodging shots, when it gets close enough it brutally slices one in half, it keeps on dodging and slices till they are all gone.)
Kert: That’s all of them, we should leave now, there are more incoming.
DoctorT: Roger Kert, already on it.
(A few shuttles leave the lunar base. HZX lands and reattaches both the beam gatlings It then gets by the route of the shuttles to guard it.)
Kert: Hurry, I’ll cover you.
(An incoming buster rifle shot, HZX blocks it with it’s shield.)
Kert: Then again, Maybe I’ll have to get ‘em up close!
Quatre: Good luck Kert. DoctorT, where are we going?
DoctorT: To colony L3, where I told your Magunac corp to rendezvous with us, I had anticipated an attack like this.
(The shuttles fly away as HZX heads to battle.)
(Back on Barge II, Plague is sitting in the command chair of the newly rebuilt bridge.)
Plague: What? You are saying they escaped?!
Trenchcoat: Yes sir, the new gundam was operational by the time we got there.
Plague:………If we didn’t have so little troops I’d have shot you without hesitation right now, we should’ve moved faster, I wanted to do this later but…Tyler!
Tyler(Walks up): Yes sir?
Plague: Order the broadcast of our ultimatum to Earth, they will all see it.
Tyler: Yes sir. (Walks away.)
(Back on the shuttle)
DoctorT: Setting a course for…wait a minute what’s this?!
(Plague’s face shows up on a window on the monitor.)
Plague: If anyone of you think you are the only one who is seeing this you would be wrong, right now all the people in the world are watching this.
(Inside the cockpit of HZX, Kert is watching the broadcast as well.)
Plague: I am Plague, at least, that is what your government had labeled me, I am now making a declaration of war against the UESA.
(Pictures of dead bodies flash across the screen.)
Plague: You see these people, they could have lived, but they did not obey me or my comrades so they were destroyed.
(A little girls with a bullet hole in her head flashes across the screen.)
Plague: We do not care what age you are, or what gender you are, you are all humans who are denying that the urge to fight will never exit from the human species, and since they did not accept it, it was appropriate they should be destroyed by it. As will all of you. Cherish these last moments and days of your life, they will be your last. We must wipe this impurity off the world.
(The screen goes blank.)
(In the shuttles headed for colony L3. Right after the broadcast.)
Drake(Slams his fist on the console.): DAMN YOU PLAGUE!!! WE’LL NEVER LET YOU WIN!!! YOU HEAR ME DAMMIT!!! NEVER!!!
(The shuttle drifts on, end symbols.)
