ACADIA MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION Meeting
Wednesday, August 31st, 2004
Port Williams Elementary School

Present: Dave Duncan, Harold Fisher, Dave Upton, Larry Rodrigues, Ed Sherman, Mike Graves, John Curry, Lynn Connors, Carrie Hemmings, Sheila Bower-Jacquard

The Minutes for the previous meeting were approved.

PRESS CONFERENCE

This is scheduled for the Hall of Fame Room Acadia University at 11:00 a.m. on September 1st, 2004. The official announcement of the association with the Acadia University Hockey Program will be made. Len Hawley with MC. Dave Duncan will speak on behalf of the Association, Darren Burns, on behalf of the Acadia University Hockey Team. New sweaters and crests will be unvailed. There will be four players - two girls and two boys representing the Association.

VOLUNTEERS FOR VALUATION COMMITTEES AND ON-ICE STAFF

Darren Burns is running a session for the on-ice evaluators to review and demonstrate drills and discuss what evaluators should be looking for. There is a list of 40 individuals available to be on-ice evaluators.

NOVICE QUICK START PROGRAM

All of the schools in our area will be contacted with photocopies of notices. The process of soliciting donations from businesses has started. Everyone is to advise Larry who they are contacting.

BLUE WHITE GAME - CANNING

Dave Upton reported that the safety netting was ordered at a cost of $400.00 to $500.00 and the rink will be ready for the game.

BANTAM AAA LEAGUE UPDATE, CENTRAL MINOR, MAINLAND

Dave Duncan called Terry Beck, Regional Director asking him to contact David Keith on our behalf as David Keith has been stonewalling Dave Duncan on our entry into the League. Terry Beck advised that he was not prepared to sign any Bantam AAA cards unless David Keith talks to Terry Beck. In relation to the Central Minor League, Bob Mongraine has offered to speak to all of the members on our behalf for us to gain entry. Four of nine Associations have said yes. For us to officially change the League, the Constitution would have to be amended. The League is prepared to contemplate our team entering an Exhibition Team but the issue would become how we would qualify for Provincial Playdowns.

ACADIA AXEMEN CAMPS

There are 26 females, 65 Bantam and 36 Midgets registered for the Female and Bantam and Midget Identification Camps. Approximately $8,000.00 to $9,000.00 in additional income was generated towards the hockey club. In relation to the Bantam Identification Camp, 7 were West Hants players and 12-14 were Western Valley players. The Bantams were split into two groups. West Hants and Western Valley being in one group.

HOCKEY DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

It was agreed that Doug Eaton and Paul Murphy would be approached to act as our Hockey Development Coordinators representing both KAMHA and East Kings.

FEMALE AND BANTAM DIVISION COORDINATORS

Reg Rand will be approached to take on the female division. Harold Fisher is the Pee Wee Division Manager. Brian Rhodenizer is the Midget Division Manager and Donnie Connell is the Novice Division Manager and a Lead On-ice Evaluator for the Atom Tryouts. Dave Deacon will be the Atom Division Coordinator. Archie Seamone will act as the Lead Evaluator for the Bantams.

Meeting adjourned at 11:00 p.m.
