TEAM APPAREL
Ed Sherman and Mike Graves presented two options for team
apparel. Cleves' is the supplier. A navy melton cloth/leather jacket was
presented with the Acadia logo in red and the position and name on the two
sleeves. Lettering on the back of the jacket designating the team is an
additional cost. The cost of the jacket is $120.00 plus HST including the
lettering described above. A navy track suite with red lettering was also
presented. The cost of the jacket is $35.00 and the cost of the pants is $17.00
plus HST and embroidering. Motion to approve the apparel described above and
the prices was made by Ed, seconded by Harold and unanimously approved.
ICE TIME
Additional ice time has been located between Kentville arena and
Acadia for the AA and AAA teams. All of the House and A/B teams will have one
to two additional practices per season with Darren Burns and/or Jim Midgely
and/or Mike Alcorn, and Axemen players at Acadia on Tuesday nights. The shared
practice time for the AA and AAA teams will focus on skills with six to seven
coaches on the ice and five to six stations with drills working on player
development. Sharing the ice time with the AA and AAA teams, frees up
additional ice hours in arenas for House league teams. As a result, there is an
additional hour of ice time Monday night at 7:50 p.m. and second hour at 4:30
p.m. on Thursdays in Canning and Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. A motion was made
by Larry Rodrigues to approve the ice schedule prepared as of October 20th,
2004. The motion was seconded by Harold Fisher and unanimously approved.
REP FEES
Ed Sherman has presented the structure which was reviewed in
detail. The Rep fee structure is based on 22 weeks of hockey and a total cost
per team for 22 weeks of $9,070.00 including ice time and time keepers. The
would be divided between the total number of players and from that would be
deducted the registration fees paid to either KAMHA or East Kings. The balance
would represent the players' Rep fees due to Acadia Minor Hockey Association.
It was noted that some adjustments would have to be made in relation to
additional costs for time keepers at the Midget and Bantam level. The motion
was made by Lynn Connors that the Rep fees as presented by Ed Sherman with the
necessary adjustments to be made be approved. The motion was seconded by Larry
Rodrigues and unanimously approved.
COMPLAINT ARISING OUT OF SELECTION OF PLAYERS FOR PEE
WEE A TEAM
Lynn Connors reported on her lengthy discussions with the
parents of the child who was not selected for the Pee Wee A team but returned
to the Pee Wee B team. Lynn reported that, from her perspective, it would be
beneficial to try to bring closure to the matter to set up a meeting with the
parents with an individual involved in the evaluation process. A general
discussion occurred during which time concerns were raised about whether or not
this meeting would result in some type of resolution of the issue or create
further conflict. A resolution was made by Ed Sherman that the parents receive
the cut off mark for the Pee Wee A team and the final accumulative score for
the child in question. This motion was seconded by Mike Graves and unanimously
approved.
50/50 TICKETS
Sheila Bower-Jacquard reported that the weekly winner would be
announced on air as opposed to being drawn on air by AVR/ Magic 97. She advised
that T J's Convenience Store in Aldershot is carrying tickets and the store was
receiving $.25 per ticket sold and the owner is providing half of that to the
employee who sold the ticket. Three local Pharmasaves are also carrying tickets
as well as Cleve's in Kentville and New Minas with the same financial
arrangement being $.25 per ticket as being given to the store who sold them.
Ticket sponsors will be advertised on the KAMHA website. Sheila advised that
she required a team list so she could start the ticket sale process. In KAMHA,
parents will receive a credit for 90% of the tickets sold, the Acadia Minor
Hockey Association will receive 25% of the tickets sold, and East Kings will
receive 50% of the tickets sold.
Meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
LYNN M. CONNORS
