Paul Murphy advised that all coaches require Development 1 to
coach and if you already have an intermediate coaching certificate you are
grandfathered. The Development 1 Coach Program will be offered this year and
the Development 2 program will be offered next year by Hockey Nova Scotia. In
order to coach Midget AAA or above, you must have Development 1 and 2 and have
competed at a certain level. Development 1 and 2 authorizes you to coach at any
level in Minor Hockey except Midget AAA. Each Association is expected to
develop a mentoring program to assist lower level coaches.
