ACADIA MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION Meeting
Sunday, October 2nd,
2005
7:00 p.m. Kentville Arena
Present: Mike Graves, Paul Murphy, Laurie Dauphinee, Dave
Duncan, Larry Rodriques, Lynn Connors, Will Brown, Sheila Bower-Jacquard, Tina
Woodworth, John Curry
Absent: Mike Dauphinee, Cam Pongoski, Darren Burns, Reg Rand,
Aaron Ward, Gary MacNutt, Karen Ward.
ICE SCHEDULE
Mike reported that the schedule had not been completed because
he had to accommodate a third Pee Wee House team and two Bantam House teams. He
will in effect rotate the Rep team schedule so that each Rep team will lose a
minimum of one practise on a rotating schedule to accommodate the House League
team games. The Quick Starts will remain at the Acadia arena to accommodate
their ice schedule and efforts will be made to ensure that dressing rooms are
available for parents to access them.
MIDGET TRY OUTS
John reported that because of the time table for the selection
of the high school teams, the Midget selection process would not be finalized
until the evening of Thursday, October 6th, 2005, which is the final cut game
for the AB Midget group. There was discussion concerning a disruptive Midget
player and the potential that other Midget players will opt not to play AA if
that player is part of John's team. Larry Rodrigues will write a letter to the
family in question if that player plays in our Association advising of the
consequences to that player if he is in any way disruptive to the Midget AA
team. Lynn reported that if there are hockey related conflicts between players
that occur away from the arena that are (a) habitual and/or (b) significant,
that from her perspective we have jurisdiction to administer discipline.
PLAYER EVALUATION PROCESS
Paul Murphy reported that he and the evaluation committee will
be meeting to prepare a parent questionnaires and gather feed back and make
recommendations for next year's program. Robbie Fredericks has been recruited
as the BantomA coach and H. Van Oostrum has been recruited as the Bantam B
coach. Because Richard Burton's child made the AA team, Aaron Ward has agreed
to coach the Pee Wee A team. Mike Kennedy will be coaching Pee Wee B. Because
Roger Cameron's child made the AAA team and Alan Barkhouse's child made the B
team, Darren O'Rourke will be coaching the AA Atom team. Some players will need
to be recruited for the Atom B team from the House program. Paul reported that
a goalie parent stated that an evaluator divulged information that he/she
shouldn't have told them. 8 to 10 families are upset and should be met with
individually. Paul reported that the volunteers did a great job. Aaron reported
that very positive comments were made by the Pee Wee A parents. A Midget goalie
quit. His registration was refunded. Recommendation that Midget schedule be
regrouped. Laurie Dauphinee will contact Nathaniel Aalders's parents concerning
the child's decision to deregister from the Minor Hockey.
On behalf of the Executive, Dave thanked Paul Murphy for his
hard work, dedication and time to the evaluation process.
