Mind Pairing Record 4
Wind Quixha mercilessly made every living soul that wasn't related to her by blood leave the deep cavern during the last week her eggs needed to mature. At times she would let in either the father of her eggs, desert Orashun, or her rider Elza, but never the two at the same time. Even with that little contact she made sure everyone in Acicade Castle knew what her demands were for the mind pairing celebrations. She wanted it to be one of a kind.
And so it came to be that on the day Quixha's eggs finally hatched into draklings, the aspirants and attendants were waiting in a somewhat different mind pair chamber. The walls had been covered with beige cloths and streams of flowers were woven around the windows. More flowers lay in water basins, spreading a fresh fragrance.
As the drak strode in, followed by her four draklings she nodded in approval.
"I like thisss." she said.
Slowly she rested her body on the cool floor, shielding the draklings from the anticipating glances of the audience.
"Pleasze make szome room so my tchildren can be rightly admired by all." she ordered.
Slowly, the humans crowded against the walls, taking the whims of the Wind without much objections. After all it was the day of the drak-lings and the aspirants. making a little more room wouldn't hurt.
"You can go now." Quixha told her draklings.
The first to make his appearance was a brightly coloured day male. Carefully placing his feet one after the other he strode clumsily into the large circle. He blinked his eyelids and flapped his wings, blowing quite a few flower petals around. He yawned and then walked slowly toward Natan.
"Iszn't zhis kind of girly?" he asked, "My name is Pudhaun."
Natan grumbled: "When you're a knight EVERYONE listens to you."
Quixha lifted her tail and a female forest drakling was revealed. Trying to catch the tail which had shielded her from the wind, the forest was dragged a few feet into the circle. Shaking her head she clambered up into a sitting position and showed of her teeth in a silly smile.
"Aimon!" she called, "I'm Jaryunha!"
"But you're a girl!" the rich merchant's son called out.
"So what, you're a boy."
Aimon sighed and tried to work out why he'd paired a forest of all colours.
A patch of white and blue came lose from her mother's skin next. The baby wind flapped her wings to show off the delicate dark blue that so prettily contrasted with her bright white skin. She seemed to almost pose with every step she took and finally rested in front of Lixue.
"You're beautiful." she smiled, "And I love you."
"And what might your name be?" Lixue, the mysterious goddess asked.
"Feounha."
The last aspirant to remain standing in the room was Fedrin. The young tanned adventurer kept his air of indifference and good humour. But it became all too clear that there wasn't a drakling left behind Quixha when she stood up.
The next moment a rather heavy weight hit him in the back. A man less experienced by travel would have tripped over, but Fedrin had good reflexes. He broke his fall to a crouch and when he looked back a white and gold male drakling looked back at him in the same position.
"Scared ya?" he asked, obviously pleased with himself.
"You'll have to try better than that." he smiled back a challenge.
"I think I have plenty of time for that challenge. My name is Voshaun."
