Adam's
Smallville Forum! Share with everyone what you thought about the most recent episodes of Smallville in Adam's Smallville Forum! |
NOTICE: Awww... here comes the bad news. After carefully considering it, I've decided to sell-out. Not sell-out, rather, but just stop doing what I've been doing. Read on... ...as much as I love talking about Smallville, I find myself committed to doing this every week, and, quite frankly, it takes away from the quality of the show when I'm sitting there overanalyzing everything to the point where I have to write it down to bring it up later (on here.) Not to mention my free time has gone down the tubes for some reason. Therefore, with the emergence of thousands of other Smallville websites (let me recommend KryptonSite), I've decided to cancel what I've been doing. No more episode reviews week by week by yours truly. BUT FEAR NOT! If you come here often, and you enjoy my commentary, it's not really the end. It's just the end of "this page," I guess. The Smallville Forum will still be up and running, where I'll be posting my random thoughts on the episodes. So just drop by there every week or so and see what's shakin' if you're interested. Until
I finally find out what to do with all this stuff, I'll just leave it as
it is. |

Select an episode from the list above to read my commentary. I'm assuming you've already seen the episode, so if you need to refresh your memory, I'd recommending going to the WB's site and reading their summary. The newest episode's review is listed on this page below, but all others are clickable. (If it's not clickable, I didn't get around to commenting on it, yet... sorry.) | ||||||
Greetings! My name is Adam, and you've just
stumbled upon my forum. I'm an 18 year old college student who attends
NMU,
and has nothing else better to do in his spare time than to make
web pages like this one. :-) I have no specialized
knowledge about Smallville, I'm just a regular guy who enjoys
analyzing human behavior and television film making, and who is in love
with everything Superman. The only thing you'll find that's
different here than anywhere else out there on the internet is... me!
More people have been posting in the Smallville Forum, so check it out. I've also put up a list of things for you to discuss in the forum, below. Maybe that will help. Thanks for stopping by! |

I've noticed a lot of people don't get Smallville in their area for one reason or another. Let me share my wealth... ...If you don't have it already, download something like Morpheus from the Music City site, or Limewire from the Limewire site... These programs are like Napster, in the sense that you share files, but with these you can also download video files (among other things). I've downloaded the first three episodes of Smallville (just for fun), and it's really great quality. The only catch is that it takes a long time to download such a big file, plus you need enough room on your computer to store the file... If you do download them, you would most likely need to leave your computer on all night, or if you have a high speed connection, leave it on for about an hour or so. You also need a program like Microsoft's Media Player to view the file, or, in some cases you have to download a program called DiVX, but you can find that on Morpheus or Limewire, too, usually. And don't forget about the FORUM!!!! |
February
26th, 2002 - "Kinetic"
Well, first of all I have to say that the WB's show title for this episode makes little sense to me. During the entire episode tonight I was trying to think of other titles that would have done the show more justice, like "Future's End," "Turning Point," or something like that. Kinetic suggests something like kinetic energy.. which if I remember correctly is energy in motion, which I guess makes sense. After all, those guy's metabolism was apparently sped up.. in motion. Whatever. Anyway, I'm not going into a plot synopsis for this one, because truthfully you shouldn't be reading this if you didn't watch the episode. :) People have been asking why I don't explain the plot in more detail and I tell them it's because I "review" the episode. You can't review it if you didn't see it, right? ;-) Anyway, let's start at the beginning. Chloe kicks ass, man! I was proud of her. I was afraid they'd get locked into the stereotypical situation at the beginning, when Clark and Chloe are under attack in Lex's mansion from those burglars. Clark is immobilized from the Kryptonite, so he tells Chloe: "run!" And she does. But then someone grabs her, and I thought that Clark was going to have to save her, but instead she kicks him in the shin and does a little backhand action and whips him around a little. It's futile, of course, since she gets knocked out the window, but hey, at least she's a fighter. I think that was really sexy, even though that image of her laying on the ground after she fell was kind of disturbing. Her arm was twisted behind her, and her neck looked just unnatural. Ew. But great job, it made it believable if nothing else. Arright, so Whitney's character had a lot of development in this episode, obviously. I thought that was really great of the producers to do that. His first appearance in the episode kind of made me mad, though. It was in front of Nell's movie theatre. Lana calls to him, and we see him kind of be disappointed that she found him, as if he were trying to make Lana not notice him. I was like "Whitney, what's your defect?" He's an asshole, I don't care what you say! And then Lana catches up with him, and of course practically cuts him off so that she can talk about her parents again. Lana... it's time you got over your parents. I said it before, and I'll probably end up saying it again. Her parents died when she was little. Granted, I don't know how that feels, but I find it highly unlikely that she would even remember them. Her infatuation with them seems to be getting to the point where it's obsessive. I felt like smacking her (not really.) Back to Whitney, though. I was getting tired of his pessimism at the beginning of the show. He looked like a little whining baby. "Oh, Lana, I can't do it. I'm a failure, blah, blah, blah." Maybe the name Whitney was the producers idea, because they wanted to make it similar to the word "whiney," which is all Whitney seems to be good for. Just ad a "t" to the word and you have his name. "But, guys, no, wait. I don't want to do that!" ..and.. "Clark, get off my girlfriend." ..and.. "What are you doing? Just back off!" ..etc.. I do think that we got to see a turning point for Whitney, though. I thought it would have been cool if he ended up being a bad guy in the series, and this was his start, and that's why his character is so unlikable and whiny. But in the end, I guess he kind of had another "turning point," in the sense that he ended up being a good guy by telling people the situation he got himself into, etc. I just thought it would have made an excellent story-arc or plot twist in the entire show if Whitney ended up being a crime lord, or something. Lex's development was good, too, but not as good as it was in the past. But that's okay, it's time they focused more on other characters. I thought that, in the middle of the episode, we kind of got a flash of his not so pleasant side. He told Lana flat out "no," after she gave him that proposal. I thought maybe this was the beginning of him turning sour, but at the end all he required was what any business man required: a little preparation. So I guess we'll have to wait to see when Lex turns sour, unless I missed it already, in which case I really shouldn't even be writing this. :) I have to say that I'm falling in love with Chloe. If Chloe were real, I'd probably be "all up on that," as people say. But she's not real, so no one has to worry. But I think she's a really strong character and she deserves a lot of respect, whatever that means. She has a really strong work ethic, to name one. I mean, she was in the hospital bed for the entire episode, and she was still online figuring out just what in the hell was going on in Smallville this week. After she got out was a perfect example of her will power, her ambition, and her courage (all attractive qualities.) She didn't even bat an eye when she said she was going to bust up into the police station and get some information. She just went ahead. And she would have done it anyway. Does that make sense? Sometimes people do things just to please other people, but Chloe would have gone to the station anyway. That's her independence, her life of her own. It's what makes her happy, and she knows that, so she does it. She doesn't care what other people think. To her, her life comes first, other people's second. And that's the way it should be. Go Chloe! I think that Clark also is starting to fall a little for her. After all, he got her flowers, and came to the hospital, and was kind of giving her the googly eyes all through the episode. Not to mention the fact that he was practically doing all of this because of what happened to her. I really want them to have some kind of relationship form. It doesn't even have to be official, just if they start kissing every now and then, or start holding hands now and then. That would be great. Anyway, she said something that made me smile while she was in the hospital bed when Clark told her he had to go find out what was happening. She said: "Clark Kent, investigative reporter. It has a nice ring to it." I was like, "oh, yeah, wait a few years!" The ended had good resolution. I liked how Lex busted up in there at the end with his taser gun and took care of them nasty thugs that were trying to take advantage of him. I also liked how he told Clark that he did it because his friends were in trouble, not because he wanted revenge. (although he was probably lying.) I like it when Lex calls Clark his friend, it's nice. :) Too bad it will never last. I also thought the very last scene, between Lana and Lex, was really powerful. It left me with a lot of questions, though. Lana gave Lex her business proposal to renovate the theatre instead of turning it into a parking garage. Lex agreed, which made her happy, but then turned around and said: "I think this will be the start of a very interesting partnership." He kind of said the same thing to Clark a few episodes back, when he made reference to their future friendship, so it got me thinking about what will happen, and if that was some kind of foreshadowing. The only thing I could come up with is that n the future, Pete and Lana get married (go figure), and Pete becomes Vice President under Lex Luthor. That's the only "interesting partnership" I could imagine. But it would have been better if, for example, Pete had some kind of connection with the theatre too, so it was Pete and Lana who were convincing Lex, and then Pete ultimately made him make up his mind. Then Lex could have said that line to Pete, which would have made me cream my pants just because that would have made sense. Why he said it to Lana, Pete's future wife, made little sense. I still thought it was a powerful scene, though. What did y'all think? |
