ARTIST'S STATEMENT ARTIST'S STATEMENT I am inspired by my surroundings and my studies of mythology; I draw my inspiration from my environment-what I hear and see, both natural and human-made, city to countryside. I am always searching for new ways to organize ideas. I perceive the earth as a great inter-connected garden. I desire to use art to preserve all the beauty I encounter in this garden. Beauty can be found everywhere. Each of us has a personal connection to nature, and it is through our personal connections to nature that we will be able to beautify the planet. Visual art for me is an act of altering intangible to tangible. My inspiration has many tangents, scientific and poetic. I paint to coalesce these tangents. Organizing these mergers, I create integrated forms of abstract expression. I am a 2-D artist. I use all-natural materials (leaves, branches, rocks, etc.) to create "eclectics," abstract expressionist pieces that integrate collage, rubbings, prints and positive and negative space. My goal is to use my assembled inspirations to alter how we perceive nature, our connection to it, and the impact our actions have on it. Each “eclectic" I create is unique. They are designed to provoke thought and inspire discussion.
