I was reading the messages for a Yahoo Newsies Club I was in and June said how Kenny Ortega was either going to or should have put a Brooklyn song in and stuff, and how every newsie should have had a line. I started this as a sort of joke, but then I just kept going with it. I got my creative juices flowing, had a little fun, and thought maybe I should post this. So, here it is! Hope you all like it! "In 1899....blah...blah...blah....the Manhattan Newsies were a ragged army, without a leader, until one day, all that changed....but first, we must introduce you to the Brooklyn newsies..." *intro music plays* BROOKLYN NEWSIES: (getting ready to start the day) "We are the Brooklyn newsies, strong and tough!" "You better not make us mad or we'll get rough!" "Our leader is Spot and although he looks small." "He's the toughest of them all!!!!" *small instrumental part and they all do a little jig with Spot in the middle* SPOT: "I sit here observing my wonderful territory." "And no matter how persistant you are, you wont get my story." "I am the toughest Newsie in all of NYC." "If you only know one thing, it should be to not mess with me!" "I know everything that is to happen, I hear it from a boid." "There are many things said about me, maybe you have hoid." *Spot walks away from Brooklyn newsies* *the Brooklyn Newsies don't notice the absence of their leader* BROOKLYN: "We are the Brooklyn newsies, strong and tough!" "You better not make us mad or we'll get rough!" "Our leader is Spot and although he looks small." "He's the toughest of them all!!!!" *Spot is suddenly seen in Manhattan in front of the Manhattan newsies that are in the middle of singing "Carryin Da Bannah* "In Manhattan you see, it's a whole different game." "I let down my guard, and I am fairly tame." "I must not do this too often though." "I wouldn't want fearless Brooklyn to know." (it is the part in CTB right after Jack was chased by the Delancy Brothers....when they are all singing and Race has his arm around Jack and is congratulating him) *Spot goes over to Jack's other shoulder* (this part not sung) SPOT: Hey Jack, that was pretty good. RACE: Couldn't have done it better Cowboy! JACK: Spot, Race, you're too kind ta me. *Race makes that face he does when he's laughing* SPOT: Well, I'se gonna go back ta Brooklyn now. Just thought I'd drop in for a second. *Spot starts walking in the direction of Brooklyn* SWIFTY: Well, bye Spot! It was nice of you to stop by! I'm really glad you did! *Swifty goes on and on and keeps talking and saying stuff to Spot even though Spot was gone. The Swifty lovers of Never Never Newsie Land all cheer and shout even though he is babbling because they are just happy to hear his voice for such a long period of time* *Jack and Race are sitting perusing the papes* (the lines go on...blah...blah...blah...) RACE: Look at this, baby born with two heads. *looks up to where Spot left* RACE: Must be from Brooklyn. *AND THEN BACK TO THE REGULAR SCHEDULED SCRIPT* (except with added lines for Swifty and other people who didn't get many lines) UNLESS......MY IMAGINATION THINKS OF SOMETHING ELSE!!!!!!!
