You can visit a website that I created for my summer as a computer canp counsellor at http://ca.oocities.com/adenbleker/usc.html. On my site you will find mini computer based lessons and fun and safe kids sites that my campers were able to play around with during free time.

WELCOME TO GRADE 8

Congratulations, you have entered your final year of elementary school! This year is going to be a great year for all of you. Grade 8 students have a very important role within the school. You are role models to the rest of the students. With that in mind remember how your behaviour will influence other students in the school. You should always be respectful, responsible, and safe.

There are many ways in which you can become involved in student life at Glen Cedar. There are volunteer leadership opportunities as well as extra curricular activities available. These will be mentioned more throughout the school year.

This year we welcome Ms.DenBleker into our classroom for the fall season. She is studying to be a teacher and will be in our classroom observing the activities and helping students.

Agendas
Once again, Glen Cedar has agendas for sale. These agendas are available to students at a cost of $6. These agendas are very important to student success and are an excellent organizational tool.

We would like to encourage parents to keep a special place for school forms and notes that will go home. Every week, Mr.Ferguson’s Grade 8 students will be bringing home the “Weekly Advance”. This is a schedule of the current week’s activities.

Canoeing and Kayaking - Spending most of my summers at the family cottage I spent the bad days inside reading and the nice days out in my kayak or the canoe.

Volleyball - I always enjoyed playing volley ball, and from my first practicum experience, I learned a lot about it from my associate teacher who coached the team.

Dancing - When I was younger, I participated in tap and jazz dancing. Although I haven't taken any dance lessons recently, I love moving to music.

Playing The Flute
I played flute all through high school and while at university, joined the North Bay military band.
