What is a "Celebration of Books"?
You and/or your child can bring a book to read to the group.
You and/or your child can share a craft experience that relates to a book.
You and/or your child can recite poetry.
You and/or your child can read passages from books expressively
You and/or your child may want to introduce the rest of us to your favourite author. (Somehow?)
Children close in age may want to form a book club if they find their interests to be the same.
You and /or your child may want to present a book report, project or speech.
Good platform for parents to be models if you so wish.
Any other ideas that celebrate books that are short and sweet so everyone who has something to share, can.
Maybe you wish to be an audience member and nothing more on that day, just to have someone different read to you and enjoy what others are presenting.
I think it will be a good place for us to learn appropriate audience behaviour and public speaking. The expectations of the children with regard to audience behaviour should be age specific. Ie Toddlers must be allowed to wander, babies need to cry etc. We need to take these needs realistically. We come together to provide a safe place to help us take these steps knowing that we are supporting each other and each other’s children. A chance for our children to garner applause with an end toward building self esteem and confidence.
Simply, children patting other children on the back! This is open to all children, from babes in arms and up.
