In 1994 our chief coach went to the European Special Olympics in
Glasgow as a supporter whilst watching the swimming event she realised
that many of the people with Learning Disabilities that she worked with
could benefit form taking part in such events.
Upon return she founded Spireoaks Special Olympics Club & began to take
part in competitions all over the Untied Kingdom & Europe.
Several members of the club have represented the National Team .
The Club enjoy considerable success in competitions & most of its
members represented The East Midlands region in the 2001 National
Special Olympics in Cardiff .
Team Members are coached by volunteers & family members whom attain a
swimming qualification.
