Objective: To have students sight read up to letter A, then rehearse to focus on articulation, pitch, dynamic, rhythm and intonation.

 

Materials: Instruments, “Canto”

 

Prior Knowledge and Experience: Students have been sight reading various literature throughout the class period.

 

Procedure: -Everyone play through till letter A.

            -Rehearse beginning 4 measures, to establish articulation and the dynamic changes.

            -Focus on the trumpets clapping, making sure they are clapping rhythms correctly with accents in the right area.

            -Have flutes and clarinet play the melody line focusing on smoothness and any incorrect notes.

            -Fix other problems that may occur

            -Play through final time.

 

Indicators of Success:            - Students can success play through first section with very little mistakes using the correct articulations and dynamics.
