| Deadwood 1945... The In-Between Years |
| The years after the golden rip roaring lawless days of "Deadwood" were gone. The Town of Deadwood settled into the landscape of an American 20th. Century that almost became vague in it's former glory. Though remnants still echoed the times... by the mid-1940's... and the influence of World War II, Deadwood was a just a whole different town in The Blackhills Area of South Dakota.. |
| In my research of "Deadwood"... a strange stroke of luck happened. A fellow associate at where I am employed told me about his Father being stationed during World War II in nearby Nebraska. Digging through an old trunk, he found a series of photographs of good old "Deadwood". Though they were photographed and developed of the poorest of quality... I examined them. The darkest of shades blended in blurrs... but through the majic od computer scaning, I was able to filter wany of these photo developing defects. The result of my efforts were beyond my notion. |

| I present these photos of The Town of "Deadwood" during the period of March and May 1945, pretty much the way as they were intended... and the adjustments of shade and contrast... present a "Time Capsule" of a town that has had it's transitional ups and downs. |

| It is nice to know in the present day "Deadwood... that some of these buildings and streets still exist, and echo the times even in the 1940's a timeline that has been almost forgotton. I thank my associate for finding these photos, that almost wound up in The trash bin. As you go to the "Deadwood 45 Photo Gallery"... you will experience a Deadwood that time has almost forgot... and a side of Deadwood that would spark the present revival of a town that still has character and uniqueness. |
